May 11, 2016 It won't change anything for the initial release of Schoolboy q... he's dropping via interscope
May 11, 2016 you may find this thread interesting https://forum.sectioneighty.com/t-m...tpab-influencing-david-bowie-and-more.t53988/
May 11, 2016 They care about everybody but you have to keep one thing in mind... Kendrick & Q are the only artists signed to a major label (interscope). The other artists are still being treated as indie artists because thats basically what they are.
May 11, 2016 Oh ok my bad I know some labels have like faux indie labels attached to their name and s--- I was just saying how TDE is kinda garbage when it comes to promoting their artists. Maybe garbage is too strong of a word. They're hit and miss let's just put it like that but if they signed to some mini label it's fair I guess
May 11, 2016 I get what you're saying. To be fair, TDE was an independent label that signed a distribution deal with interscope, but only for a few artists (Kendrick & Q) I guess the other artists benefit from being associated with these 2 artists, it's good promotion if you're indie. But I don't understand why people expect them to do big numbers when they're not backing by interscope or any other major label. They don't even have radio deals, nothing. Kendrick is signed to interscope + aftermath, Q is signed to interscope, and from what I have heard, Soul has just signed a deal too so we should have his major debut soon (probably under interscope too)
May 11, 2016 Also, http://hiphopwired.com/2016/05/11/i...-kendrick-lamar-tde-tweeting-right-now-video/ " Chicago expert and blogger Andrew Barber of Fake Shore Drive just posted that he thinks he knows who the guy is. Read what he said below: I know this face, do you? As you know, FSD has been around for close to nine years now. Almost a decade at this point. And throughout the years we’ve meet hundreds of artists — many who’ve come and gone. Some have gone to the moon, while others are still clawing away in the underground. One thing I’m good at, is remembering faces. Maybe not always names, but always faces. So when Kendrick mysteriously tweeted “?” at Twitter account @skiiiwalker, I was curious. Once on the page, I noticed the artist was from Chicago, IL — the bio says nothing more other than artist/producer. My phone and DMs began blowing up with questions on if I knew who this phantom artist was, so after studying the pic, I put it all together. Skiiwalker is Johnny Rocket. From Chicago group The Rocketeers. Yes, this was a Chicago group from the early days of FSD — around 2008 or 2009. It was a duo consisting of D-Win and Johnny Rocket — both talented artists rising in the Chi’s crowded scene. D-Win was the rapper, while many of the beats and vocals were handled by Rocket. They were dope. They even participated in our citywide cypher with Leaders and Enstrumental back in 2009. It was called The GO! Experiment. The group would eventually break up, but not before Johnny Rocket made his way to LA to link with Kendrick and TDE. Obviously there’s a bigger story here — how the hooked up, what his plans are, is he dropping an album, etc. But one thing’s for sure…he’s definitely rolling with Kendrick. Much of Skiiwalker’s early material has been scrubbed for the internet, but we’ll leave you with a video we posted back in 2010. It’s called “Feeling Good.” I’ll share more details as they come available to me."
May 11, 2016 I remember reading a thread on here about an article where Terrace Martin said he was LoveDragon...kind of like an alter ego type thing
