Exactly. I know Mortensen will never do it, but he created this s----storm with his false report. Once you read "11 out of 12 footballs were 2 PSI under inflated" It looks SO bad. ESPN and Chris Mortensen SHOULD have came out and made an entire day of talking about how they f----- up, or at least, defended Brady.

Even when I read that first report, I was like... f---. However, it came out like a month later that it was false, and NOBODY was reporting it. It blew my f---ing mind. I thought Deflategate would go away, and Tom's name would be restored. Then NFL keeps f---ing pushing this? It makes no sense.

Instead, they didn't, and just like your Kobe comparison, he's labeled a cheater, which Tom isn't. He got royally f----- over.

You said he's better and more complete than any tight end other than Gronk, and I just don't believe that to be true.

You just blew it off like there's NO QUESTION that Reed is a top 3 tight end in the NFL. That's what I have a problem with. I find those tight ends to be more viable.

Tight end is a difficult position to consistently compete at an elite level.

For one, it's rare that an offense runs through the tight end, unless they're special, and THAT is very, very unlikely.

If your offense runs through your tight end, you're in trouble.

An underrated element for tight ends, is run blocking purposes.

    It's one reason that I named Walker/Barnidge/Eifert/Kelce.

I left off Celek, Witten and Miller though, because they're not as dominant in the passing game, and we were going for versatility.

If your tight end is not respected as a run blocker, defenses will put cornerbacks on them, and it'll slow down their production quickly.

Brian Celek, although not explosive in the passing game, might be the best blocking tight end in football (and, to me, makes him a top 5 tight end), same as Heath Miller, Martellus Bennett, and Delanie Walker is up there too.

Celek is elite though, and gets zero praise because he doesn't light it up in fantasy football.

You look at someone like Kyle Rudolph, and people think he's a bust because of his lack of production in the passing game, but the Vikings put a lot of pressure on him to help in the running and passing game, for blocking purposes. He's a huge reason Adrian Peterson's production.

Now, if we're talking about the GREAT tight ends (Gates, Gronk, Sharpe, etc)? What makes them great is play action.

Gonsalves, Sharpe and Gates f---ing MURDERED it in play action. That's where tight ends do a B*** of their damage. They play on the line, and get matched up with linebackers.

If linebackers don't respect your blocking abilities, they'll be more prone to anticipate your routes rather than your blocks for play action.

The idea of play action is to bite on the run and belief that you have to FIGHT through a block to make a tackle or occupy a gap.

If you don't have that threat, teams will key on you more.

Like you said, I look at Reed a lot like Aaron Hernandez, but that's not necessarily a great thing either.

Hernandez was a liability as a primary tight end, when Gronk would miss games.

As much as I loved Hernandez, to me, he was never going to be a long term elite tight end. I thought he was a great complimentary player to Gronk.

He was basically a slower receiver who wasn't good at blocking.

I just did a little research on Reed's blocking abilities, and apparently he's a liability as well. He was penalized the most on the Redskins offense for holding, in terms of yards, which really kills his value at the position.

I played tight end, and it's a very difficult position. That's why I have respect for Miller, Walker, Witten, etc.

This isn't really true guys. Norman played great in 2014 as well. He's just become more known last season because of the type of season the Panthers had.

on second thought @Arch Dogg I think those Eagles fans @Soldier, @The Product, @Boos might be a little too crazy for me to deal with during a heated football game, I think I'll stay far away from Lincoln Financial Field lol

In other news, wide receiver Percy Harvin told the Bills that he's retiring

So it looks like CJ Jr. is retiring............. so now the Lions are known not just for going 0-16 but for wasting the careers of both the GOAT RB Barry Sanders and a top 3 WR of all time CJ Jr.

Word you're right, I was lurking KTT and that's how they did it too.

I'm trying to give the sports sxn some love to try and get it more popping, we'll try it for the first few rounds and see.

@TimmyT @Jok3R @Arch Dogg @JMG No separate thread for each game, but let's see how a thread for each round goes? We can merge them back to the main NFL thread if it fails.

I think if you do anything I would do Wildcard Weekend, Divisional round, Conference Championships and Super Bowl threads.

I don't care either way, but individual games(looking at you KC/Houston) might not get as much attention.

i think it would work.. risky though. if anything it would keep all the eagles draft pick talk out when were trying to talk about playoffs.

Steelers/Bengals and Chiefs/Texans in the AFC.

Definitely think the Bengals are getting bounced right away again.
