This has to be one of the most unpopular match ups possible for the Super Bowl right now surely?

I take it no one wants to see the holding champs get back there let alone win it again. Plus it does seem like these are 2 franchises people love to hate, New England I'd imagine cos they've been so good and successful for such a long time. And Seattle just seem like everybody's fave team to hate on right now.

If anyone hates this match up they should go k--- themselves cuz it's the best Super Bowl match up in recent memory....granted last year's should have been

^Ya maybe if last years game were played in a dome. "Cold weather Manning" is well documented just as "playoff Manning" is.

I mean in terms of how many Americans actually want to see one of these lift the Super Bowl. From the reaction on here both seem like pretty unpopular teams.

Wow this is pretty interesting, what the Pats did apparently falls under the 'unfair acts' category which basically means Goodell can decide whatever he wants for the punishment.

The penalties for Unfair Acts appear to be unlimited and range from a minimum of fines, suspensions, and lost draft picks, all the way to giving commissioner Roger Goodell the power to replay the game or even rule it a forfeit.

"The Commissioner’s powers under this section (UNFAIR ACTS) include the imposition of monetary fines and draft choice forfeitures, suspension of persons involved, and, if appropriate, the reversal of a game’s result or the rescheduling of a game, either from the beginning or from the point at which the extraordinary act occurred."

Obviously he won't have them replay the game but I think based off the NFL coming down hard on others this year and trying to make a point, I do think the punishment will be fairly serious. It wouldn't surprise me to see Bellichick suspended for part of next year and the Pats to lose a pick or 2.

It'll probably be a $25,000-$50,000 fine, and lose a couple picks, at the most. Who really cares? If the NFL did make them replay the game (Would NEVER happen), it wouldn't be good for Indy. Belichick is the type of guy who would run up the score just to spite the ruling. I could see NE being up by 40 in the 4th and converting a 4th and long just as a "f--- you" to the league.

Indy didn't even make a big deal about it, its the media. I heard today that something like 90% orlf the players asked said that it doesn't make enough of a difference to matter.

God I'm so sick of hearing everyone say it doesn't matter cuz the Colts would have lost anyways. Yes obviously the Colts would have lost anyways and I've yet to hear one person say otherwise. Gotta look at the big picture here to see why it's a big deal, this basically sums it up imo.

If a genius like Belichick has been caught twice, how much has he gotten away with?

If anyone actually thinks those are the only 2 times, then you're very naive.

Anyways, after Sunday's games I was happy that we had a week of football where the refs weren't the topic of conversation afterwords for once, but never expected we'd get something bigger like this. Really sucks for the NFL tbh cuz it's a great matchup in the super bowl, yet this is a big story that won't go away.

You'd be very naive to think that other teams dont do similar s--- if we wanna be honest, Pats are just under a microscope and will be until Belichick is gone.

What's funny to me is that under inflating footballs don't really give an advantage. I would think that OVER inflating footballs would be the advantage.

Has anyone tried to THROW an under inflated football?

MAYBE it'd be easier to carry, but it definitely would be a b---- to throw. Especially with Brady's monster hands.

I mean, the first ball that was inspected was off of a BRADY INTERCEPTION... An UNDER THROWN BALL....

Aaron Rodgers admitted that he wants OVER inflates footballs because it's easier to throw, yet no one is discussing that.

The NFL could come out today and say "Well, Patriots footballs were under inflated, but the weather caused it, so we're not going to penalize the Pats" but NFL fans minds are made up about the issue, just like Spy Gate.

Pats should start acting like bad guys in wrestling do.

Nobody will ever like them or respect them. f--- it, just win Super Bowls and make everyone cry about it.

    GREAT article right here

They needed something new anyways, with "Pats havent won since spy gate" potentially getting erased.

Belichick gonna have the team so motivated for next Sunday.

^Too bad they haven't won a superbowl since spygate and will get demolished by the Seahawks soon. I'm sure belicheat has some more tricks up his sleeve though.

No one's discussing that because he didn't do anything wrong or break a rule, he just said he wishes they were more overinflated. I'm sure the receivers wouldn't like that though cuz that'd be like catching a rock.

redsoxx, there's no reason to believe other teams have done similar things at this point. Sure it's very possible but that's totally just making up something that's not there right now.

Also I really disagree that no one respects what the Patriots have accomplished, you guys are trying to turn this into 'no one's giving them credit for any of their success' when that's not the least bit true.

“‘I like to push the limit to how much air we can put in the football, even go over what they allow you to do and see if the officials take air out of it,'” Simms said Rodgers told them before the game.

Pretty sure that's breaking a rule lol

Didn't hear anything about that, but you're right that would be breaking a rule. The article I read about Rodgers basically just says he thinks there should be a minimum air requirement but not a maximum.

Yeah here's the article, direct quote is in there.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/01/20/aaron-rodgers-likes-his-footballs-overinflated/

I don't care if you like them over or under inflated. It doesn't even matter.

Look, if Bill did it, cool, suspend him, fine him, take draft picks, whatever. This, like Spy Gate, isn't the reason the Patriots win games. However, he broke a rule, IF he authorized this, and should be penalized. I'm not arguing that.

By the way, nobody has looked at how Brady played BEFORE the deflated ball was discovered, and AFTER the "good" balls were implemented in the game...

Before Interception: 11-for-21, 52 percent completions, 95 yards, one touchdown, one interception, 60.6 passer rating
After Interception: 2-for-14, 86 percent completions, 155 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions, 157.3 passer rating

Patriots in the first half: Outscored the Colts 17-7

Patriots in the second half: Outscored the Colts 28-0
