And the thing is, when he is consistent (during two playoff games he has managed quite nicely), the other team members fumble (figuratively and literally), and Dalton is just not able to pick up the slack like the 'great' QBs in the league.

My bad, thought they were inside the one. Still think there's no way they would've stopped Beast Mode at that point.

Caroll stated numerous times, he wasn't planning on scoring on that pass play, it was a clock management decision. He figured, worst case scenario is that the pass would go incomplete & the clock would stop. He wasn't expecting (nor was anyone) Wilson who has protected the ball very well throughout his entire career to throw an interception at that point nor was he expecting a back up/no name corner to make that great of a play on the football. Criticizing Caroll for that play call is just nitpicking imo. It was an improbable scenario but it happened.

SF at worst will be 7-9 this year. Keep sleeping on us. I think 10-6 and a wild card.

Wishful thinking but nah lol not in the division you guys are in. In other news Giants are reportedly interested in Aldon Smith. They trying to jump on him before the Cowboys do

I thought Teddy was better than Bortles going into the draft and i think after one season it's pretty fair to make that call. The verdict is still out on Bortles but he hasn't looked improved in camp, no.

I mean just look at all the players who have left. Patrick Willis, Chris Borland, Justin Smith, Aldon Smith, Perrish Cox, Anthony Davis, etc. all those players were key contributors to the 49ers the past couple years & their production/play won't be easily replaced. The best defensive player you have now is Bowman & who knows how he's going to return coming off that injury. Your O Line was very shakey last year & you guys did very little to address that & instead lost a quality starter in Davis. I like the news I'm hearing about Kaep & how he's progressed, Romo worked with Warner last off season & he had a career year coming out of that off season so I trust Warner's judgement but I just don't know if Kaep will have the supporting cast in place. Not to mention an inexperienced head coach, inexperienced offensive coordinator & a defensive coordinator who hasn't been held that job in a decade. Also you have to factor in the division you play in, Rams got better, Cards got better, Seahawks got better & all 3 of those have the capabilities of having a top 10 defense. I can't say the 49ers got better this off season, can you?

Is there much hype in the US media about Aussie rugby convert Jarryd Hayne, from what ive read hes a fair chance to get a spot on the 49er's squad and even play a few games.

I'm a big Oakland Raiders fan, but outside of me and my dad, everyone in my family are huge Viking fans. Season tickets and all. I usually make it to a Raiders and Vikings game each year.

i think the raiders are finally headed back in the right direction, but it's definitely going to take some time. they're in a tough division with QB's like rivers and manning and even alex smith isn't bad himself. that won't make things easy on the raiders. but i do feel like they're starting to draft a lot better and eventually they'll be a team that can seriously compete.

as far as the vikings, it's all about the offensive line and finding out if bridgewater is the real deal. i'm not one of those people who has already crowned bridgewater (too soon for that, see RG3) as someone who can be our QB year in and year out. however, i am optimistic about him because he showed as a rookie that he can throw from the pocket and most importantly, he doesn't look to run first, that's his last resort. he doesn't have a big arm, but he makes good decisions. he has to learn to get rid of the ball quicker, though. personally, i don't see bridgewater becoming an elite QB, simply because i don't see anything that he does really well, but i do think he can be a good QB in the NFL

JaCorey Shephard going down for the year is going to hurt my Eagles, especially since they just traded away Boykin... Talk about bad timing.

Yeah I'm pretty pissed at this. He was the favorite to win the slot position.. s--- I would have been fine with him going down if we had Boykin still because I think Boykin was pretty good and never got enough time to play.

    We signed Freddie Martino apparently

    From ESPN: http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/13416881/geno-smith-new-york-jets-6-10-weeks-broken-jaw

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith will be sidelined six to 10 weeks with two fractures in his jaw, the result of a locker-room altercation Tuesday morning with reserve linebacker IK Enemkpali.

Smith was "cold-cocked ... sucker-punched, whatever you want to call it," coach Todd Bowles said in a pre-practice briefing with reporters.
Enemkpali, a sixth-round pick in 2014, was released immediately by the team.

Smith, who was the presumptive opening-day starter, will have surgery, according to Bowles.

A clearly annoyed Bowles said Enemkpali punched Smith over "a very childish matter ... something two sixth-graders could've handled."

This means veteran backup Ryan Fitzpatrick will start the season as the quarterback.

Smith, entering his third season, was having an impressive camp. He didn't throw his first interceptions until Monday.

Edit: This story is absolutely ridiculous/hilarious/pathetic. Also why the h--- is it some kind of badge of honor to not be throwing INT's during training camp? Been hearing the same thing about Mariota for the past 2 weeks.
