Megatron apparently told the Lions this was his last year before the season started and asked them to keep it confidential. Looks like the retirement is for real. I still think he'll pull a Favre and come back around training camp time with a contender.

Outside of Favre, I'm very disappointed in this. I really wanted Terrell Owens to get in. Kurt Warner and Terrell Davis got snubbed too imo. Sorry but I never even heard of that guy from the 50s. I follow the game very closely including past years and if I've never even heard of you you're not a Hall Of Famer. Glad Stabler got in, just sucks it's after his death.

owens i agree with you on totally. i too think he should have got in right away. no sweat though, he'll get in eventually. terrell davis is someone who i think will never get in, but we'll see.

warner will get in eventually, but he's definitely not someone who deserves to go in right away

and yeah, i agree totally on your stabler comment

I know Terrell Davis is a tough case cuz of his injury shortened career but I've heard the Gale Sayers comparison many times and think it's a legit argument. Davis played longer than Sayers, had way better numbers, and won two more Super Bowls. Sayers has no Super Bowls and is a HOFer. TD was legitimately the best player in the NFL in the late-90s.

i realize they share some similarities. however, the number one criteria for hall of famers is how good they were INDIVIDUALLY. superbowl(s) do help your chances at making the hall of fame, but it doesn't hold as much weight because its a TEAM accomplishment.

to me, davis doesn't deserve to go in, and i don' think he will. terrell davis was pretty good--- but sayers was SPECIAL--and that's why he's in despite his short career

Kurt Warner stay being underrated af. Dude was so tremendously efficient/consistent throughout his career. T.O. getting snubbed is unacceptable. One of the most dominant WR I've ever seen play the game.

Warner will get in no doubt, but there's something prestigious about being a first ballot hall of famer and he's not that. TO was to be expected, but he'll also get in.


Looking forward to next year when Dawkins is up, doubt he'll be a first ballot HOF, but then again he's the polar opposite of TO on the character spectrum so maybe he has a chance

Totally agree. TO's numbers are far better than Marvin Harrison and Harrison got in. Not to mention hasn't Harrison been involved in more off-field troubles than TO? I remember he was involved in a shooting at one point. He didn't even show up to the HOF announcement tonight. I honestly think they're just gonna make TO wait a year because of his antics and he'll get in next year. Warner was one of the best ever with the Rams and Cardinals and took both teams to the Super Bowl. The only flaw in his career is a few bad years with the Giants. I think he deserves to get in.
