PFF takes that into consideration. They make distinctions between great throws & great catches. Their grades aren’t based on statistics, they’re based on watching the game & grading every play. QBs are graded on a throw by throw basis. They go into their QB grading process here:

This, Ben throwing 50 yard passes with multiple defenders around him and brown coming up with it is more with brown making a skilled catch and Ben being just lucky. Half these long passes brown has to turn around and jump and it happens to come down with it. The defenders should have easily deflected the pass or easily could have been a pick. I’m not giving Ben full credit for throwing Hail Marys basically and luckily brown is skilled enough to come down with the ball.

The Steelers are a perennial playoff team, and legit contenders each year. If your mark of success is genuinely “Super Bowl or bust” then idk what to tell you, but Tomlin is a winning coach. If Steelers got rid of him, Cowboys would be glad to have him :emoji_thumbsup:

I’m telling you guys this Vikings team is scary. When was the last team that had this good of a defense with a very good offense too. Best team currently in the nfl imo.

You can never count Brees out either. I expect him to make some sort of a comeback 2nd half. Vikings need to get some more points before halftime then just shut down the saints offense 2nd half.

This is all cool, but Big Ben isn't a top 3 QB. Dude makes some questionable decisions in tight situations, and some bad throws, that his receivers adjust to and make great plays on.

I still would keep Ben, but he wasn't that good this year. he wasn't bad today, but he wasn't good either. His stats were insane today, but I'd rate his performance like a C- or a D.

Like, I hate to pinpoint one play on Ben, but the fake spike and throw to the end zone vs the Pats was one of the worst "signal calls" and throws made in the entire NFL season, and he's been doing it for a couple years now.

The mark of an elite QB is how they perform in the clutch. I could never see Aaron Rodgers or Brady or Brees shi--ing themselves in that situation.

And I understand that the Steelers were shell shocked about the overturned touchdown call, but you have to play through that. You CANT throw that ball in that window.

That was a throw that an average QB makes.

And years ago, Ben wouldn't make that throw. He'd play it smart.

A huge thing about a QB is not just the throws they're able to make, but it's about knowing the situation and knowing what you're going to do with the ball. It's about knowing the context of the game and managing it. It's not all about how great their throw was.

Steelers wouldn’t need Tomlin to make the playoffs every year. They can do better without him. You don’t play irl football like madden18 during the playoffs.

However, I understand cowboy fans are just happy making the playoffs since you guys struggle to ever even win a playoff game or even make the playoffs. Our organization is above that. We want superbowls. Making the playoffs every year isn’t a big thing to us like it is to you cowboy fans.

And PFF would agree with that rating for performance today:

    26A50AF4-D86A-4D85-817D-2B0E398724A3.png

This is considered a “sub-par” grade on PFFs grading scale. Doesn’t dispute the fact that he played really well during the regular season. The guys who determine these grades are ex-nfl coaches, coordinators & scouts. They definitely know more about the game than all of us here.

I think QB play was down this year, and I checked the ratings, which is all well and good, but I don't agree with Ben's ranking. I'd probably go Brady, Wilson/Wentz, Brees then Ben. Granted, they're 2 points within each other, but I respect what Wilson has to deal with, more than Ben or even Brady.

I'm REALLY back and forth on this. It's really risky to move on from stability.

Contrary to what a lot of people believe, I do think coaches like Andy Reid and Tomlin could win a Super Bowl (I know Tomlin has).

I'm not bragging here, but finding a coach like Belichick is near impossible. He not only has a great system and drafting process, but his game management and decision making is on another level. He almost always makes the right call.

Like I said, i'd go with the system, and I'd hope that in the next few years, you guys put it all together, like the Chiefs should do.

Like, if we didn't have Bill, there's maybe 5 coaches in the NFL I'd want, and one that's not in the NFL that I'd want lol. Tomlin and Reid are two of the five.

Pats fans look at me like I have 10 heads when I say this, but when Bill leaves, I want Mangini.
