Right. I agree that Ertz catch is 100% a TD but people are arguing based on precedent:

Could argue Dez made just as many football moves here. Also the Jesse James catch can be argued to an extent too.

"Football moves" are actually not in the rule book anymore. They threw that out awhile ago, it's all about establishing as a runner and seeing the ball to the ground now.

In my opinion Ertz had undebateably established himself as a runner, and so it was definitely a touchdown.

Jesse James had , imo, definitely not established himself as a runner and he didn't see the ball to the ground. So it wasn't a touchdown.

Dez, I can see it argued either way. I think we can all agree that the entirety of the motion was in the process of the catch. It's a special case, since he spent so long getting the ball and coming down with it that "seeing the ball to the ground" can almost become irrelevant visually and you could argue he established himself as a runner during the full motion. It's a lot faster on the field and so I think a refs judgement call would suffice.

If I was a ref and saw the play happened in fast motion I would say, no catch, the reciever did not establish himself as the runner or see the ball to the ground. In slow motion it's a lot clearer that Dez "caught" it, though.

Right. They took out “football move” after the Dez incident because the nfl couldn’t define what a “football move” was when questioned about it. That only made the rule worse imo. Nonetheless, since the term “football move” was in the rule book when Dez made that catch, I don’t understand how any of his actions (taking three steps, switching arms with the football, stretching/diving for the goal line) didn’t constitute as a “football move.” Also, like you said, in slow motion, it’s clear Dez caught it & the ruling on the field was a catch. How do you overturn that?

Jesse James, I feel like can go either way. Due to the vagueness shittyness of the current rule, I can see why it was ruled not a catch. Had he made that catch while the term “football move” was in the rulebook, I’d be more inclined to argue it was a catch because he did reach for the goal line & that’s a “football move” imo.

Everybody shut your dirty mouths. That was the worst NFL season of all time. Look at your final 4 (minus the obvious one). Look at all the injuries and players who didn't play. The f---ing Philadelphia Eagles winning it all with their back up is honestly the most perfect ending to this season. See you in September.

Collinsworth was deadass acting confused about Ertz catch being called a TD :bookah:

The problem isn't the catch rules, it's announcers saying "ahhhh uhhh idunno fellas, zit a catch? I disagree hyuck hyuck" and making casuals think the game and rules are poor

The td where a foot was out of bounds is NOT a catch. The f--- am I reading here. Bunch of football scrubs who don't understand simple rules. He did not have control after first foot down, him repositioning the ball from almost being out of his arms to tucking it under his arm is evidence of that and possession didn't start until his right foot touched the ground. Both feet not in bounds by time he gained control of the ball. Its very simple stuff, collinsworth was not wrong about that.

Game was trash. s----s rigged. Both this years Super Bowl and last years. Jags s--- the bed against the eagles. Might as well start calling the NFL "the new WWE" s--- has storylines like deflating balls, domestic abuse, and even murder. #IDChannel.

gronk's obviously struggled to stay healthy.....so maybe that has something to do with why he's considering retirement. or maybe he's just lost the desire to play. if i had to guess, i'd say he'll be back.....but we'll see.

i need to see a little more of jimmy G, but i do think he'll end up being a consistent player. QB's are hard to find. i wish the vikings would have got him.......that's the one position we can never seem to get right

Maybe its a hot take, but i believe the Jimmy Garoppolo trade will be the biggest failure of the Patriots organization under the Belichick/Brady dynasty.

Jimmy Garoppolo was so clearly the future of the team, Bill wanted him, Brady didn't because he felt threatened by him and for some reason he thinks he can play 5 more years. Its not happening. Father time is undefeated. Father time comes for everyone and it comes fast and hits hard. Look at Peyton Manning in his last season... and yes i know he won the SB but they won it in SPITE of him.

Robert Kraft f----- up. You listen to your GM and coach, not your QB. Owners should not mess with the GM/Coach. But he did for his golden goose in Brady... They should have moved on from Brady after this seasoned ended and handed the torch to Jimmy G. Bill would have stayed for a few more years if Jimmy G. was the teams QB. But since he lost his future QB he will be leaving the Patriots after one more season.

Agree they'll regret trading Jimmy. Patriots haven't won a Super Bowl since they traded Jimmy G away after all.

Lmfao. I assume you're a 49ers fane cause of your avi? If so, you should be very excited for the upcoming season. I'll have my eye on Garoppolo to see what he's like. I really do think he's the future. Not gonna be hyperbole and say he's the next Montana but I think he'll be pretty d--- good

Very excited for the future. This guy is for real and Bill just dropped him in our laps for a 2nd round pick. Happy for eagles fans today as they are celebrating the ultimate prize, buts it's a great day to be a 49ers fan again as well.
