If you were smart, you'd realize that the Wii (one of the best selling consoles of all time) was underpowered because Nintendo wanted to focus on innovative motion controls. The Wii was a Gamecube (which was more powerful than ps2 or xbox) in a new case with a new controller. Literally. The Wii U is vastly more powerful than the Wii was, and is only underselling based on poor marketing. Super Smash Bros. was one of the fastest/best selling games of 2015, so much for "cartoon graphics" bub. f--- off until you know what you are speaking on. The PS4 mostly has games that run natively at 1080p with 30fps, and the Xbox One mostly has games that run natively at 720p with 60fps, but the Wii U has the most games out of the three consoles that run natively at 1080p with 60fps. Have you actually seen the new Smash, Mario Kart, or Super Mario 3D World. Graphics are astonishing. Just because the art direction of a game is "cartoonish" doesn't mean that a console can't run different style art. tl;dr: Wii U has more games that look better/run faster (based on games that run natively at 1080p with 60fps) and Mak has no understanding of how a video game's art direction works. Also, sales have nothing with popularity based on Mak's logic. Mak is an idiot though.

Mar 31, 2015 Okay I'll sum it up. You called the Wii U "cartoon graphics" yet it actually has more games that run in higher quality and fastest quality than Xbox One or PS4. Just because it's art direction is colorful and not dark doesn't mean it's cartoonish or underperforming. Wii U has also sold more units than Xbox One and more software than either PS4 or Xbox One. Average Wii U owner has more games for it than PS4 or Xbox One owners.

Mar 31, 2015 nintendo needs to play it safe this time around. They need to go back to basics. Now that's not to say that they shouldn't experiment with add ons to the system. Nintendo should be running the gaming world not trailing behind.
Mar 31, 2015 I liked the wii u. I was just hoping they would release more games with their franchise characters like star fox, metroid and zelda. I'm not trying to use a tablet as a controller on this next console though.
Mar 31, 2015 gamecube wasn't more powerful than the xbox but it was certainly more powerful than the Ps2. of the 3 competing consoles of the 6th generation, the Ps2 was the weakest. the wii u's slow pickup this generation has a little more to do with just the poor marketing. like you said, the wii was an updated gamecube in terms of hardware. the wii u is substantially more powerful than its predecessor, but since the same can't be said about the wii, the end result is the wii u bearing much more in common with last generation consoles (Ps3 & 360) than its competition (Ps4 & xbone) while the wii u launched in 2012, no one perceived the 8th generation starting until the Ps4 & xbone launched. part of this has to do with the fact that the hardware in the wii u has overall computing power on par with consoles that have been around since the middle of the last decade. of course hardware's only part of the issue, i'm just giving some of my 2 cents. with the whole "cartoony graphics" thing, you are right that most games on the wii u do have more consistent outputs of resolution and fps, but that could be because their games are less demanding by the limits of the hardware, which includes lesser visual fidelity than what the Ps4 & xbone are capable of.
Mar 31, 2015 actually, Gamecube was more powerful than the Xbox. In terms of CPU, they were tied, and although the Xbox had a slightly better GPU, it wasn't utilized to work as well as the Gamecube did, plus the Gamecube had faster memory, though the Xbox had larger memory. Bigger Numbers =/= More Power
Mar 31, 2015 Well Zelda U & Star Fox were both slated to release this year. However if they are really gearing up for the next console I say push all the big game's back and let the wii u die off. Metroid Prime and a Mario Galaxy 3 would be great as well. If Nintendo want's to lead the pack they need to put all the chips on the table. Star Fox, Zelda, Mario, Pikmin, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Bayonetta, Xenoblade, Monster Hunter.... Such a endless list. All these other console's run off first person shooter and racing game's. blaaaah
Mar 31, 2015 you'll have to explain that then. i'll give you ram, but the xbox's cpu was clocked at 700mhz and gamecube's was 500mhz so they weren't tied and you've stated yourself the xbox had the better gpu. these consoles were in use a long time ago but i recall most of the time, xbox having games with the best graphics and best ports of 3rd party games
Apr 1, 2015 Nintendo and Sony/Microsoft have very different target audiences when it comes to gaming. Anyone who wanted a next gen console already bought one. Although I've been having that Mario Kart nostalgia lately. Didn't the Wii U JUST come out a few years ago?
Apr 1, 2015 wii u came out in 2012, PS4/xbone in 2013. also, I get that nintendo has a different target audience but it's no secret that they want to be able to reach audiences beyond the younger/casual audience, otherwise they wouldn't be doing deals to release games like bayonetta.
