@Deadpool @Final like i dunno, were you guys under the impression it was multiplayer? Ever since I saw it at E3 i assumed it was, i guess they never explicitly said "this is a multiplayer game" but man, they have definitely said some sketchy s---, or s--- that alludes to it being multiplayer. can remember the guy at one point was asked "so can your friends like build a base on your planet, or can you like have space abttles together?"

    dude was like
"ummmm well the universe is so big, do you think you will find your friends? it's just too big, you probably wont ever see another player (because its a singlepalyer game and we are tricking you)"

Sean was always vague and people took the "The universe is just like ours... it's so big you probably won't ever run into another person" to mean there is a possibility of multiplayer...Which is what he said with that sentence. But really it's just a crafty way of comparing the game universe to ours and avoiding the question. I assumed there would be no multiplayer. They have been so quiet about the game, it's obvious it's gonna be a letdown but I'm still tryna play.

Murray sought to clarify expectations for No Man's Sky ahead of its launch on PlayStation 4 tomorrow, August 9, in North America, and on PC on August 12, explaining in a series of tweets that players shouldn't go into the experience anticipating a multiplayer-focused game.

"To be super clear — No Man's Sky is not a multiplayer game. Please don't go in looking for that experience," Murray wrote in the first of a series of tweets.

The chances of two players ever crossing paths in a universe this large is pretty much zero," he continued, noting that there are certain features and Easter eggs that will let players know when they're in the same universe but that the game is "about cool 'moments'" rather than a full multiplayer mode.

Whether players are determined to run into others despite the slim chances, the game won't require users to have PlayStation Plus to play online while they explore the vast reaches of space.

Murray went into further detail in a blog post on the No Man's Sky website, warning that the game may not be for some what they "imagined" the game to be based on its trailers.

"If you hoped for things like pvp multiplayer or city building, piloting freighters, or building civilizations… that isn’t what [No Man's Sky] is. Over time it might become some of those things through updates," Murray wrote, explaining that owning freighters and the ability to build bases are on the way.

Murray did go on to elaborate that, while No Man's Sky may not be those things, it is "an infinite procedural sci-fi-space-survival-sandbox... and it’s a very very chill game."

This is kinda what I mean... right now I'm like, if this game is so big we probably will only explore 1% then what's the point? I know it's like 'race to the center of the universe' is the goal to win the game (or whatever happens at the center.) But it all just seems kind of meh. Like it's so big you probably wont finish it, so is there any point to getting it?

apparently the goal is like to get resources and get stronger so you can get closer to the centre (as everything gets stronger the closer you get to the center) but if Sean is saying stuff like "city building, piloting freighters, or building civilizations… that isn’t what [No Man's Sky] is. Over time it might become some of those things through updates"

Sounds like some repetitive: go to planet, collect resources, max out upgrades, on to the next planet, repeat till in centre of universe. He's said there isn't much of a combat/pvp focus in the game, its more about exploring and getting a feel for the size of the universe. IMO I don't think this game will get any more than a few hours play time and while playing i'll probably be like "wow this is cool" but I doubt there will be any drive to continue playing this game for a long time.
