more like alienated everybody that wasn't his fanbase. recovery brought in whole crop of newbies.
as for disappointment, there might have initially been some from his fans - after a hiatus like that you expect an explanation or some insight that was mostly missing from relapse. But that didn't make it a bad album, just ahead of it's time in that respect. -

I think that's more something that Recovery and subsequent albums have done.

right, he literally does something crazy different with every album. it's natural for some of his work to drift outside of a persons taste parameters when you're doing that. people are just f---ing brats about it "he sucKS. it's TRash. OMG!!11!! go back to 2002 FLow" -

Daaaaaam man, I can't imagine being so new to rap music that recovery introduced me to the whole fucing genre. Fuuuck, that's a weird/scary thought for me personally.
