Jul 22, 2015 ...I see why people have recommended it as a starting point for someone to get into Future. The original copy of Honest I had was totally f----- up with repeats, missing features, song names switched, and sequenced wrong. I thought it was just a mediocre album, which is kinda my fault because I A. knew my copy had duplicates so something was up and B. had hardly given it a chance because of this. Anyway, it's a lot easier of a listen. It's kind of like Future-lite, which isn't necessarily bad, but the abrasive, immoral, and unapologetically drugged out Future we hear on Monster/56 Nights/Beast Mode/DS2 is the Future I grew to love. It's probably a lot easier for people to get on board with post-Honest (and probably pre-Pluto, though I've only skimmed through that so far) Future after listening to either of his first two albums to ease them in. @FutureHive thoughts?
Jul 22, 2015 His Honest and Pluto album are more mainstream friendly. Like its been repeated before, they were trying to label him pop so he showed and continues to show that hes not. He just knows how to make hits
Jul 22, 2015 Yup. It's like he says in I Serve the Bass: "Tryna make a pop star and they made a monster."
Jul 22, 2015 Both his albums pre-DS2 had very accessible tracks, it was a nice showboating of his capacity as a songwriter. Some missteps and blatant label intervention prevented them to be the unmistakably very good albums that they should have been but he's improved a lot during the years. It's cool looking back at it nonetheless.
Jul 22, 2015 My first download of Honest had the same/similar s--- going on. Remember I got it and had to look for a new link almost immediately after dragging to itunes.
Jul 22, 2015 i remember one song was 27 minutes long (I won, pretty sure) and like 3 or 4 songs were just no audio.
Jul 22, 2015 Reminds me of when I got Chris Brown's F.A.M.E. (I think that was the title) and it was just 14 tracks of J-Biebs' "Baby" under different names...smh.
Jul 22, 2015 This song though Future was everything but honest on his Honest album. He even said it himself in an interview that it just wasn't him.
Jul 22, 2015 Honest was selling out at its finest, the result was awesome but I'm glad it's in the past.
Jul 22, 2015 Yeah, listening again this morning, it's pretty hard not to like this album, though I see why it would turn off long time fans. I think Future was pretty successful in being a more accessible pop star on this album (I'm not sure how much was his doing and how much was his label's), and it looks like it got pretty favorable reviews from most critics/the media—I've heard it's kinda shunned by longtime fans, though.
