    I have a question.. will the polls have only 2 options (republicans and democrats) or will there be more.. cause why cant people not vote for either and vote for the third person (if any)

    The framers didn't trust direct democracy. They feared "fractions" happening or "tyranny by the majority" where the majority would trample over the rights of the minority. They also simply didn't think the general people were educated enough to have that much power. With trump now being a candidate of a major party, I think they were on to something.
