are you familiar with photography already? because if not it'd make more sense to start digital then move to film if you feel the need to later, because if you're just starting you're going to be f---ing up and wasting a lot of film and time developing the film. learning with digital is easier because you just set up and take the picture, instantly look at it then delete it if you don't like it and try again.

good point.. no i've not.. i fell in love with the superior picture quality and lively color saturation.

Was also looking into buying a Pentax K1/50 or a Nikon D3200/5500 as an alternative though..

What do you use?

picture quality is absolutely fine on digital cameras, and saturation can be bumped up or taken down a lot easier in photoshop than with film. i used a 3100 in school and copped a 3300 when they had that s-----y amazon prime day sale. 3300 is great for the money you're spending and its a great entry level camera. i didnt use the 3200 but 3300 is a huge improvement over the 3100, and i've read the sensor is a lot better than the 3200 as well.

for black friday they are apparently putting the 3300 on sale for $399 with a kit lens (which are generally s--- but get the job done) and a 55-250mm lens which in itself it about $200, so if you're looking into getting into it black friday would probably be a good time to get a start.

I need a 15mm f1.4 lens for a wide enough angle for architecture cuz those CMOS sensors are a lil small. Those are generally pricey.. but i'll consider it again.

Thanks for the heads up (i live in Europe, so i'm not sure if we can get black friday-type prices but whatever)

Have you heard anything about the Pentax ones? I hear they have enough lenses and read generally positive comments on dpreview.

Also what are your thoughts on interchangeable mirrorless camera's? Any experience using those semi-professional priced ones?

I totally get what you mean by "image quality" is fine.

But i'm still convinced there's a huuuuuge yet subtle difference between film and digital. It's hard to describe what i'm seeing but it's much more easy on the eyes without it losing detail ...quite the contrary actually.

i have no experience outside of nikon, and i did a s---t once with a canon but that wasn't even my camera and it was in a studio where everything was set up already. i've heard of pentax but i really don't know anything about them tbh. but its worth starting at the lower range like a starter camera so you get the hang of it, rather than investing a lot more money than you have to for a camera that isn't as user friendly and harder to learn on than the beginner models, then possibly finding out you dont even like photography or whatever and dropping it and just having your expensive camera sit around.

also the nice thing about nikons is that all of the lenses are compatable with all of the bodies, except for outliers like the little mirrorless point and shoots

and as far as the mirrorless ones, again, i've never used them but I've heard nothing but bad things from other photographers, though again i can't give my first hand opinion because I've never used one

lots of people feel that way, i still think it'd be better to learn on an entry level DSLR first, because before you even begin processing the photos in post you need to learn how to compose and take photos and learn the technical stuff, which is faster and easier to learn and grasp when the photos are instantly available as you take them, then it's easy to process on the computer, then the transition from photoshop to an actual dark room i've heard is actually a lot easier since the tools in PS are based on an actual dark room (burning, dodging, etc), so you're indirectly learning techniques for that in a lossless format without wasting money on development and film, which can later be translated into being used on film

all that to say, it's you money so do what you want

No i totally agree with all your points, just wanted to get it out there that my end goal is film. But you're pulling me down to earth, it's best to get the hang of it with an entry level camera.

didnt get out with my new lens today but still took some test shots playing with the dof just a test shot no color corrections or edits, just the raw off the camera.
