J.R. is my favorite announcer of all time, but what I don't need is him saying which attitude era star the guys in the ring remind him of, in every match of the night.Pinhead, Raziel and Sign Language like this. -

He's actually also a historian on Japanese wrestling and wrote a great book on the Tokyo Dome. I think he is good in small doses but I agree he should never be the #2 announcer, even on the smaller shows. He's best as a guy in the background (not even as a consistent third announcer) to translate the promos and supplement the broadcast with some historical info.
I said this to @Pinhead when we were watching the Tag finals, but man I think Rocky Romero is really great in that spot. When Don can't be there (and unless they are going to keep using Excalibur) I think Rocky should always be in there is Kevin Kelly.Pinhead, Sign Language and Big Dangerous like this. -

In the WWE there is both a clothesline and lariat, depending on who does it. The clothesline itself is just a move they do in transition, wrestlers work in multiples but in the WWE they work in 3's. Clothesline, clothesline, move. Cena for instance has the double shoulder tackle into the back suplex. The clothesline isn't really a flashy move, but the lariat involves both guys giving their all to sell the effects of it. JBL'S clothesline from h--- is a lariat, an actual clothesline would never end a match. It's not just for transitional purposes, it's to cause a shift in momentum because when done right, it does look devastating.
As for the dropkick, it's the same principle. When Okada or Omega hit theirs it's genuinely awe inspiring. You watch the old All Japan matches and it's like the V Trigger in how crazy it looked. In America it's just a move.
Edit
Okada also only pulls out the dropkick near the end of a match, makes it feel a lot more important because when he hits it things go into another gear for him.Epitome, Raziel and Big Dangerous like this. -

Hot Topic, WGN, and Crackerbarrel aren't the only corporate entities to hear about The Young Bucks, Bullet Club or Elite. I can only imagine the types of talks these guys have had over the last few months, then again with this supposed turmoil in New Japan and their recent booking decisions.Epitome, Big Dangerous and tomroe93 like this. -

If they can get on TNT, ESPN2, or CW I really believe they will succeed with the top talent they are going to attract. Guys like Gallows & Anderson and s--- maybe even Kevin Steen, who aren't doing s--- in WWE I could definitely see going with them.
If they only end up on a network like WGN, I think they will have a tough time...they need to be on a network that constantly has a large amount of eyeballs, where they have a chance to be found by new fans. That is why I really don't think an Amazon Prime or ESPN + (who both bid for Smackdown) would be a good move because they aren't going to grow a fan base on a streaming service.tomroe93, Sign Language and Pinhead like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Seeing as I will be at the Chargers/49ers game, which is only 30min away from the Long Beach Pyramid, the crew and I have decided to hit up NJPW after!
The game should end around 4:30pm and New Japan starts at 5:30pm...it worked out too perfect to pass up.
I wish the card was a little more stacked but I’m still stoked!tomroe93, Big Dangerous and Pinhead like this. -
