Mar 2, 2017 Because Nintendo has put out gimmicky inferior consoles for three generations and its holding the industry back
Mar 2, 2017 The game library is pretty atrocious rn, but if they drop some bombshells at E3 we're in for a good time There's so much potential for this system that I would be really disappointed if they f----- it up Pokemon games speak for themselves. Even with virtual console titles alone, if they can just get Gamecube titles then they've already won Then with the unlikelihood that it flops, homebrew will open up some dope s--- once it's been hacked
Mar 2, 2017 They are the most innovative of all three major gaming companies. I understand the power is inferior, but most Nintendo fans could care less about power. How are they "holding the industry back" when they were the first to introduce analog controls (N64), started the motion controls craze (Wii) and are now the only company with a working hybrid console? I'm not disagreeing that PS4 and Xbox One have better graphics and probably appeal to a wider audience, but I would never say that Nintendo is holding the industry back.
Mar 2, 2017 They're holding the industry back because they are constantly putting out an inferior product even though they are the biggest most classical coming in the gaming industry. I get that Nintendo fans like Zelda and the Mario spin offs, I understand they are great games. I'm not a fan personally because I didn't grow up playing them, but I get it. However when Switch releases with Breath of the Wild that can hardly manage 30 frames while in television mode WITH compressed textures, rendering AAA games unlikely (hello Wii U? That bragged about landing year old AAA titles...turned out to be bad ports), it's just insulting from a gamer perspective, in my opinion. Sure, I'll give them credit for the analog control. Heck, they are historically trailblazers--decades ago. Not anymore. The motion control craze they started (again on their at-the-time inferior console) was a cancer and blight on the gaming industry. Nothing good came from that s---, it was a pointless roadblock of the 2005-2013 console generation. You want to talk about real innovation? Imo it's PlayStation (and to a slightly lesser extent Microsoft) constantly pushing gameplay norms, crafting new great IPs every generation, furthering the gaming scope of consoles with things like social features and video streaming, and constantly pushing a more powerful and sleek machine to the public. That's just my opinion. I see plenty of non-gimmicky innovation and progression from Sony and Microsoft that maintains a quality higher than Nintendo. It's not as flashy like motion controls or anything to base an entire console around. It's solid work and improvements to make core gaming better.
Mar 2, 2017 If people want to keep buying weaker consoles with these gimmicks like motion controls and mobility or whatever "big thing" Nintendo uses to sell consoles, in order to play their 800th Mario spinoff or the next 10/10 Zelda game, that's fine with me. I don't have a problem with it, but it doesn't interest me, and I think it's a cop out. I would rather play a PC, or a PlayStation with awesome sleek core gaming features and most importantly dedicated first party support valuing creating New fresh IPs and performance of those games over all else. If Microsoft or Sony did the things Nintendo has done as far as the route they've taken the past 5 years and what they've released, they would be heavily criticized. @Truth Himself
Mar 2, 2017 It's literally been three console generations now where a LOT of people are in the "I'll have to buy it for ______(game)" crowd. That's not a coincidence, and it shouldn't be okay or expected.
Mar 4, 2017 3 minutes after turning it on. Dude tried to set his Timezone settings Also hella reports of blue screens randomly, and people who download the day one patch are reporting it gives them an orange screen before bricking this console is a mess so far glad i waited
Mar 4, 2017 My Switch has a dead pixel lol Luckily I bought the warranty and the guy at Gamestop said he will contact Nintendo and see if they will send in a replacement, otherwise I'll have to go directly through Nintendo myself. Just my luck... Only thing I'm concerned about is that my save data is going to be lost because there is currently no way to transfer data... I thought it was saved on the game cart but I'm hearing conflicting info.. gonna have to look into that
Mar 4, 2017 Also people need to understand that there IS a market for what the Switch offers. It's a handhled system and should be treated as such... it just happens to also play on your TV. It's not meant to complete for PS4/Xbox fans... it's an additional system. People act like we need 3 different companies with 1080p/60fps/omg graphics and I really don't see the point in that when we already have Xbox and PS4 covering that field of gaming
Mar 4, 2017 ^ @Changeling @tpk @whoever the f--- else thinks we need 3 high energy consoles when PC's are a thing lmao
Mar 4, 2017 As long as 3rd party companies continue to show interest in the Switch and actually act on it, I think it's going to be a very strong console. Nintendo can't continue to survive on Zelda, Mario and Pokémon alone, but they do have nice hardware this time around and it's promising
Mar 4, 2017 I want a Nintendo Switch, but they sold out here. I'll just wait since i'm in no rush to get it.
Mar 4, 2017 I don't know if you are near one but I heard that the military base GameStop/stores have them since the military are the only ones that can actually purchase from them
Mar 4, 2017 Might just be r-----s handling the system man, same way they say the Joycons come lose or the stand on the back falls down... I'm gentle with the thing as I always am with new hardware and none of this s--- is true unless you are a barbarian -_-
Mar 4, 2017 btw switch renders zelda at 900p, upscaling to 1080 from 720 thats why there are framedrops in the docked version but not the handheld, the handheld version is native 720
Mar 4, 2017 Normally I would have bought it that way, but since I'm not stationed at an active duty base and I'm not overseas, I gotta go to regular gamestop spots like everyone else. I got ps4 and wii u day 1 when I was active duty, but I'm in the Guard now, I'm not in on the exclusive releases.
