Aug 4, 2015 Got to agree with him, CA. Actually I'll make that Ray/Ani/Frank >>>> Woody. Woody was great but these 3 blow him out of the water. They may be a f----- up bunch but I love them. Frank was kind of cringey the first four episodes but over the past 3 episodes he's been on fire. White Stringer Bell aka Frank aka if I can't be a gangster nobody can>>>> I love this season. If it has a perfect 10/10 finale I'll rank this dead even with season 1. The ending of that season was pretty s-----y iirc.
Aug 4, 2015 i think you and @M Solo are alone mostly hah. there's diff things i like, and i can see what the showrunners intended for, for instance, frank... but it just doesnt rly work imo frank is more of a badass than woody... but i think woody the character is better defined, and def better acted
Aug 4, 2015 I don't know about that. Marty putting those gloves on and beating the breaks off those teenagers >>>>>
Aug 4, 2015 this is hands down one of the most confusing plots i've ever seen on TV I seriously wouldn't understand what's going on if it wasn't for various blogs, reddit, twitter, etc. I think in this season they f----- up the pacing & made it more of a character driven plot instead of a story driven plot.
Aug 4, 2015 Also LOL @ anyone disrespecting Vaughn's performance. He was a bit wooden & stiff in the first few episodes maybe, THIS monologue when he was talking about the leaky ceiling especially corny and not needed I thought Aside from that, I've been pretty impressed with his performance. He certainly has a commanding stage presence and my eyes are instantly locked onto him whenever he's on the screen. That scene when he tortured and killed Blake was intense.. the faceoff with Farrell was intense too
Aug 4, 2015 @Lamont you cant writeoff half his appearances this season, then chortle when someone reasonably and intelligently criticizes the way franks been portrayed. half the time his character doesnt even seem to be apart of the same show as the rest of the characters. agreed the scene with blake was good... his last episode was an improvement. the majority of his scenes with ray were sooo laughable though. think more critically
Aug 5, 2015 what? Vince Vaughn's character has been intertwined with the show/story from the very beginning, starting with his history with Ray & Caspere. He definitely fits in for me and I've enjoyed his acting thoroughly, in particular with his facial expressions. Him and Farrell, to me, are the shining stars of an otherwise forgettable season. The two of them are by far my favorite characters and have the best dialogue, acting, & story arch. I can't agree with that, his scenes with Ray are all very very good. They have good chemistry with eachother. How can you call the scene where Ray starts banging on Frank's door laughable? We see the darkness in both characters and we see how they react to imminent danger. Both have loaded guns on eachother. I mean there is intensity in those scenes where Ray and Frank are sitting together or chatting together. You can tell there is an underlying sense of hate between them. Like Ray still holds him responsible. you can tell that there is going to be some kind of fallout between the two of them in the season finale.
Aug 6, 2015 Nah, there's a definite disconnect between him and the others. The ties are there, but those ties mostly start and stop in his brief scenes with Ray. The majority of his screen time is spent dealing with the fall of his business, his attempts to rise to the top again, and his relationship with his wife. Those are all things that don't really have any relevance to the other characters in the show or the main case. Has he even had a scene with McAdams or Kitsch? Piz tried to make two main arcs that could function as one because of the connections between the characters. This would be fine if we were going to get to another season of them, but there just isn't enough time to do that properly in an eight episode season. Really hope next season sticks to 1-2 main characters unless more time is given to flesh things out.
Aug 9, 2015 Regardless, they got rid of him so late (2nd last episode) that it all just seems inconsequential in the end. Like I can't figure out the reason we ever even met the character, or learned anything about him Watching the finale now with 0 sense of anticipation or excitement tbh
Aug 9, 2015 This scene with the rings was pretty funny haha But now this whole "maybe it means something!" Is awful lol I really don't get how the writing is so haphazard this season...it has to be a mix of heavy handed (and sometimes just bad) writing, and then acting that doesn't always deliver
Aug 9, 2015 One of the best finales of all time. Compare that to the dog s--- finale from season 1 and I might give the edge over all to season 2. The last 4 episodes were flat out incredible. @Pinhead and I won.
Aug 10, 2015 You definitely got the feeling in the begining of the episode that it was gonna end this way. I thought it was a great finale. Spoiler that last scene of Ray's phone not uploading his recording, then his ex opening the paternity test were pretty sad.
Aug 10, 2015 I haven't watched NONE of the episodes this season, I caught 10 mins of the first episode..and turned it I have them on my DVR though
Aug 10, 2015 The beginning two scenes of that ep were so cringe, s--- felt like a soap opera. Great finale other than that in theory, but its effect is very much softened by the fact that I hardly had any idea how anything was connected/relevant or what the f--- was going on general for a lot of the season. Everything seemed so convoluted and inconsequential.
