Last 10 years of Manias yes, only because they've grown roster wise, but it wasn't like this in the past and if they did have a match it was a once in a while thing. They do it simply because they want to give everyone a PPV paycheck, which is very nice but not everyone deserves to be on the card TBH.
They are building it up now...like a few weeks before the event, so what? I didn't say they wouldn't try to promote it or explain it. What I mean is I would like to see a one on one IC match at Mania that mattered and would live on forever, like Savage/Steamboat.

Ziggler, Bryan, Ambrose, etc. don't have much else to do, which is why they are putting them into this match. You may not like it, but if they did a 1v1 for the IC title, 3/4th this match would be neglected to the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royale. That would just result in more complaining.

With all of these superstars in 1 match, especially a ladder match, there's a good chance it's going to be the best match on the card. If it does, then it will live on forever when people look back at WrestleMania 31 and remember that match over the other matches.

Yeah I think the ladder match and Sting/HHH will be the 2 matches people remember the most from this PPV. Brock/Reigns will have to do something amazing to be in that discussion, don't think they will.

@Balzter , I actually think they're making the IC title look more important than it has in years lately. There's still a ways to go but in recent years if you'd have asked me who the IC champ was, most of the time I likely would have had no idea even though I watch raw each week. But now they're treating it as the 2nd most important title in the company (which it is) and it seems they're going in the right direction I think.

So give them something to do then!!! All top guys that are fan favorites and you don't have a program/feud on the way into Mania, uh...
The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royale is nothing more then a joke and filler, it's perfect for lower cards and jobbers.

It's usually the best matches (because the rest is below mediocre) because it is a super spot fest match, which usually stand out as the "best" matches. I'd like to think that another match ends up being better.

The belt is worthless, it's purpose has been lost, if they put 10% effort in the belt that they do with Cena then maybe it would mean something like it did in the late 90s and catapult new superstars.

I agree until recently it's been worthless, but I think they're at least heading in the right direction trying to make it seem more important again.

Either way you can always count on good old Balzter for some quality WWE bashing. :'(

They are giving them something to do. You're acting like they aren't on tv and just got announced for this ladder match. They've been on TV, building for this match. Doing singles matches like you want would result in like 10 matches on the WrestleMania card, which would just shorten all the matches on the card.

Face the facts, WWE is more entertainment than a wrestling show now. The "spot fest" ladder match is going to be more entertaining to a lot of fans, compared to a 1 on 1 match. If you don't like how WrestleMania is, wait until WrestleKingdom where you're almost always guaranteed at least an 8 man tag and a 6 man tag.

Can you name me the last 5 IC champs on the top of your head? Point is they do not handle their titles and their connected feuds with care, this is not a new thing either. They've been able to capture a bit of prestige back in the last few years with certain reigns but then they just fall back into old habits.

Giving them something "to do" is not the same as having clear paths set out for them for the future, so the wrestlers can benefit from having direction and the company can reap the rewards in the end. Fact is, they through this match together after the last PPV before Mania, it's consolidation of the best mid card talent instead of giving them each their own thing. You may not see it or want to admit it, but the booking is a clusterfuck.

I have to face the fact that WWE is more entertainment then wresting? I thought this was a well known fact by now. Unfortunately it's also quite obvious that as much as you want to get away from the wrestling aspect, it always be the backbone of the entire product.

Wrestle Kingdom has 6 and 8 man tags in the first hour of their 4 hour show and those matches included older legend talents, special attractions and so on. Not for a title and not with your future talent... also the show had 3 legit MOTY's single matches, in a row, to end the show.

You literally back peddled on the "give them something to do." You said "well give them something to do then!" which they are doing, and then you go on about "it's not the same as giving them a clear path set out for them for the future." Make up your mind. I'm not going to sit here and argue with a guy who can't even keep consistency in what he posts during an discussion.

I'm not saying get the wrestling out of WWE by saying it's more entertainment than wrestling. I mean... a ladder match is still considered a wrestling match, so it's still wrestling. In this day and age WWE fans are going to be more entertained by the 6 man ladder match than they would Barrett VS Ambrose and Ziggler VS Bryan. That's the difference between Wrestle Kindom and WrestleMania. They are ran by 2 completely different wrestling companies. Throw a singles match with good workers with a good amount of time on WrestleMania and it'll probably get a good rating after the show with a crowd response, but it's not going to get the response that a ladder match will.

EDIT: Basically what i'm trying to say is that a ladder match is going to be more entertaining to the casual fan.

Can't wait to see Joe in WWE. Hopefully they let him keep the name Samoa Joe and don't try to turn him into some gimmicky character

That's the rumor. Meltzer is reporting it so I'd say it's most likely true
