@WrestlingBros no news, just saw a post on Reddit and figured I'd pose the question on here for a good discussion

In Kayfabe, who wins in a one on one between 1998 Goldberg and 1998 Austin? Ppl were obsessed with this back in the day but obviously it never happened

Bonus how would you book the match??

Well seeing as how Goldberg was a man of few moves and had next to no long matches I'd say the best bet would be to have them in a street fight. Obviously Goldberg would have the strength advantage but Austin specialized in brawler situations.

The fight would start out on the ramp as Goldberg entered the arena. Lots of weapons and classic Austin antics. Fight would slowly make it way to the ring with in ring action consisting of basic wrestling moves and lots of punches and kicks. Match could end several ways, stone Cold could hit his stunner and do a little celebration, maybe turn his back to Goldberg with his middle fingers raised in triumph only to turn around and get hit with the spear/jackhammer combo for the win.

Goldberg could spear Austin out of the ring, go outside to put my him back into the ring set him up for the jackhammer only to have Austin reverse it landing behi d Goldberg, Austin would then stumble to the turnbuckle with Bill setting him up for another spear only to hit the post and get hit with the stunner for the win. Only other way I see Bill winning is with interference from McMahon and friends.

Stone Cold Steve Austin was way more charismatic though, so he gets the edge. Also 100x the wrestler "AND" sports entertainer Goldberg ever was.

Spent like 5 mins just zoning out thinking about this after I read your post lol, d--- a 98 austin vs. Goldberg match would have been insane.

If Goldberg was still undefeated at the time, I think he'd have to win unfortunately, I'd rather have Stone Cold win. But either way I almost feel like you'd have to have a screwy finish where whoever loses gets screwed over or distracted by someone setting up their next feud. I know it wouldn't be ideal to have a screwy finish in a match that huge but you'd almost have to imo.

I'd start the match with Stone Cold turning around to take off his jacket and when he turns back, Goldberg hits him with a spear and goes for the pin, 1, 2 kick out. Then Stone Cold stands up punches him a few times, throws him off the rope and does the lou thesz press and then the middle finger punches to the ground thing(dunno wtf its called.)

I'd only have the match go like 8-10 minutes, but d--- that would have been so crazy hype wise..You really got me thinking here bro...

I like the idea of having Goldberg catch Austin with a spear immediately so that Austin has something to fall back on being wore down for the rest of the match

That's why this is so cool tho these guys were booked to be unbeatable
