I totally agree about Fab. I haven't liked anything he's done in a VERY long time. From Nothin To Somethin (2007) was his last listenable album. Not to mention I saw him in concert last year and it was one of the worst experiences of my life.

i think a lot of you are responding without having listened to much of the artists' recent output. examples:

snoop has moved on to a different phase of his career--he's rap's george clinton. i get if he was forcing out rappity rap albums, but how can you be mad at bush? still one of the genre's best performers.

e-40 is still rapping at a preposterously high level. he had a huge, innovative hit last year and continues to be one of the 15 or 20 best rappers ever.

i'm not generally a game fan, but his new album (especially the second disc) is quite literally the best he's ever rapped. he's getting better creatively, he's beloved locally and his sales are on the upswing.

i have complicated feelings about this. ghostface has gone from being arguably the genre's greatest writer to a shell of a mid-2000s ny street rapper. gza has been burnt out for a decade, etc. but rae continues to be mostly brilliant (he even had flashes of it on FILA) and m--- sounds smooth as ever. so i'm not sure.

I'm not knocking E-40's talent at all - he's actually one of my favourite West Coast artists; but he's just flooding the market with unnecessary music. Rehashing the same s--- over and over. And as per my post today, I stated he dropped one of his better songs (which I gather is the same one you are referring too) in "Choices" last year.

I enjoyed both Bush and Reincarnated. Snoop is (somewhat) innovating with each album, unlike another 40-year-old rapper with a connection to Dr. Dre.
