thats because the new mainstream listeners aren't used to this sound, it was widely considered as GOAT years ago and thats why a lot of old head can really appreciate it


if you ask me, nothing that dropped these last few years can compare to TPAB, quality wise... and as far as my enjoyment go, tpab is one of my most played albums of all time (already) but then again I'm almost 30, I'm not new to this kind of sound.

I think they earned the right to be annoying as soon as kendrick dropped TPAB, it's one of the best albums we have heard in recent memories.

This happened to me around half a year ago, RG would have 8/10 threads be TPAB or Kendrick related. Got so sick of it I just quit listening to him instantly.

Luckily this forum is actually good and Kendrick stans have their own section to circlejerk in. I'll probably return to his stuff in the future when I feel like it.

It's their problem. Hip hop is like a competition and everybody wants his favorite artist to be praised, thats why people like Narsh are annoying with young thug. But you just can't blame the kendrick fans because TPAB is getting all that praise... s--- is well deserved and f--- these haters lol. I'm starting to wonder if them saying that this whole "tpab too smart for us" isn't actually the proof that they're indeed dumb as f---.

Matter of fact, I see them talking about kendrick's rapping when his rapping is the least thing that is being praised on this album. The music is what made this album a classic to the eyes of many (critics included) and let's be honest here, there's no surprise to see people who admitted they been listening to hip hop for only 2-3 years not being able to understand where the TPAB praise comes from.

It's the same s--- for the tpab-gkmc argument. Those new listeners are riding with gkmc while the previous generation is riding with TPAB. Why do you think its happening? thats probably because the previous generation has experienced a lot more diversity in music.

This renegaded the whole thread.

Because people who are actually against it and show their point of views want to hear counterarguments other than "you have no musical knowledge". Everyone has the rights to discuss why they prefer album X over Y. That's why we have the annual poll. There is no reason to have one if only critics are right and have the "musical knowledge". And that's where the Kendrick stans are absolutely annoying.

meh... more accessible but TPAB is much better if we're being honest. Same s--- for section 80... people who didn't get caught in the hype knew it was always better than gkmc, its up there with tpab.

Why should they? the critics are doing a good job explaining why it's the album of the year and according to them, its the consensus AOTY.

Fantano also did a great job in his review & recent top 50 list. I'm confused, what critics are saying right now is exactly what the fans were saying when the album came out. Ofc ain't nobody is trying to make a valid point anymore, people don't want to repeat themselves and they certainly don't want to say what has been said to death. This right here is the fact that the kendrick fans actually not trying to be annoying.

that's because GKMC is more mainstream and section80 has a more generic jazz atmosphere.

Fans of other genres are showing nothing but praise for this album and they don't say anything about how it could be hard to listen to.

honestly koolo you should close this thread before starting another tpab vs gkmc. Believe it or not but a lot of people are starting to hate gkmc because it didn't get the same praise as tpab.

do you think gkmc is better? well, good luck to find solid arguments for that s---.

Personally I listen to tpab a lot more than gkmc but this is not the reason why I think tpab is just head and shoulders above gkmc.

EXACTLY.

Like musician klp said a few weeks ago, the reason it is universally acclaimed by critics is because you can't criticze this album, there's no apparent flaw. It was, like complex said, a "critic-proof" album. You don't have to enjoy it, but there's no way you can say it isn't better than gkmc because it is much better than GKMC.
