Film Old Man Logan Rumored To Be Basis For Jackman's Last "Wolverine" Film

Big things are coming for Fox's "X-Men" franchise; they have three films coming out next year -- "Deadpool," "X-Men: Apocalypse" and "Gambit" -- and a third "Wolverine" scheduled to follow in 2017. Hugh Jackman, who has appeared as the clawed mutant in every one of Fox's X-Men movies, has been quite public about his decision to retire from the role after the character's next solo film, but details about that film remain unknown. Popcorn Talk's latest installment in their "Marvel Movie News" series featured Heroic Hollywood's Umberto Gonzalez, and he brought a number of new superhero film rumors with him -- including one about the untitled "Wolverine 3."

"Rumor is that the third and final 'Wolverine' movie is gonna be based on 'Old Man Logan,'" said Gonzalez. "I just dropped a scoop on the air." After the hosts expressed excitement, he made sure to add that this rumor has not been confirmed yet.

"Old Man Logan" was originally published in the pages of "Wolverine" from 2008 to 2009. The storyline, written by Mark Millar and featuring art from Steve McNiven, saw an aged -- and retired -- Wolverine doing battle with maniacal future versions of Marvel characters in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. The character and setting have recently been brought back in a new "Old Man Logan" series from Brian Michael Bendis and Andrea Sorrentino. Closing out Jackman's run as Wolverine with a "Mad Max"-style action film based on a popular storyline, one written by Fox's Marvel consultant Mark Millar, makes sense. Setting the film a few dozen years past the events of the current crop of X-Men films would also free director James Mangold and screenwriter David James Kelly free reign to do what they want for Jackman's last outing.

"Wolverine 3" is expected to begin filming in early 2016 and has a release date of March 3, 2017.

Interesting. The makers of the movie will have their work cut out for them seeing as the characters they need for a re-telling of Old Man Logan are owned by Marvel.

i don't remember much of old man logan but wasn't hulk big part of the story?

are they doing death of wolverine in a x-men movie? when they introduce x23?
