Overheating and slow laptop

    Could possibly be a virus. Download an anti-virus OS such as Hirens or Bot Defender and put it on a disc or USB and run it externally (over the OS). If no luck, completely wipe the computer and install a clean OS. If the problem still occurs, it's the hardware.

    How about the Thermal Paste? Is it still there under the CPU - heatsink and GPU - heatsink?

    I used to forget that all the time to check haha, but many times that is the problem. :)

    I've got the exact same problem. my RAM is always at 80% now and my laptop gets really hot. i've had it since 2009 though so it's old af
