My first impressions is that I definitely like it but I'm gonna need more time with it to feel it out cause it's so different from anything else they put out, it feels a lot more groove heavy if that makes sense.

I'm also excited for them to perform the songs live cause it always ends up making me like the songs more.

I think it’s a decent album! I appreciated the overall attitude of it, and a lot of the lyrical content interested me. I like the message of The News. Running Out Of Time is super relatable. The idea of “love is not a weakening” on Liar was something I needed to hear. The “I romanticize even the worst of times” line on Crave was another relatable lyric. Love the lyrics on Thick Skull “I am a magnet for broken pieces.”

That last 3 song stretch was the best part of the album for me, any of those might be my favorite song off of the album. I feel like the first 3 songs and the last 3 songs are the strongest parts of the album for me. I didn’t really feel much of the songs in between that. With that being said, I still like most of the songs though. Lots of brilliant instrumentals, lyrics, and singing. The only song I actually disliked was C’est Comme Ça… the sound of it just annoyed me.

Overall, I like the album and need to give it more listens. Maybe C’est Comme Ça will grow on me. I feel like this album as a whole might be something that has to grow on you a bit. I also need to dive into Paramore’s back catalog more.

I’ve actually heard more of their music than I thought I did. Of course I’ve heard Misery Business, but I also realized after looking at their Apple Music page that I’ve heard Ain’t It Fun and Still Into You from their self-titled 2013 album which I liked.

I feel the same mostly except C'est Comme Ça already grew on me, you should definitely listen to their back catalog though they genuinely have a great Discog imo.

Still kinda baffles me that for a Pop Punk Band they never really released a bad album.

As a die hard fan of Paramore for nearly 20 years this album is horrible lmao. It’s good for another band but this isn’t Paramore. The production is really nice. But this isn’t what I want to listen to when I go to Paramore. Thankfully they have a very good catalog front to back up until this.

Not being what you want to hear when you listen to Paramore is fine but saying it'd be good for another band just means it's a good album lol

I will say the discourse around this album is interesting cause it's either people's favorite Paramore album or their least favorite with little in-between.

What I can say is other than like one song a lot of it has grown on me (my only technical gripe is that I feel some of the vocals and instruments could've been mixed a bit louder and punchier) but it's a specific mood I have to be in for this kind of music, lucky for me this band has music for if I'm in the mood for pop punk on their first 3 records, pop/pop rock on their self titled, 80s synth pop on After Laughter, and now indie post punk on this one. All they have to do now is make a metalcore album and a rap album to basically run the gambit of my entire music taste lmao

Awful album from a great band that has made a lot of good music, that I’ve liked in the past. This was not it and completely misses that Paramore sound. Feels like they homed it infor the sake of it, to try and sound different but misses the ball park completely. Easy to come back from a bad album when you’re a band and their catalogue is impressive for the genre, so don’t think it will hurt their rep to bad.

Tbf this is their highest rated album critically rn so I don't think it's going to hurt their rep at all.

Seeing these different perspectives makes me wonder if I would enjoy this album more or less if I was an actual fan of Paramore. I wonder if this is a case of fans not wanting the band to progress and change up their sound and wanting them to make the same s--- over and over again, or if they really did miss the mark.

Artists and bands fall into this trap where if they don’t change up their sound in some way at some point they get criticized for it, but then if they keep using the same sound they get criticized for that too. I’m not a true fan of Paramore, so of course I have no knowledge on this. These are just things I’m wondering

It's a mixture of the two for some people, one of their favorite albums of mine is the synth pop record which is completely unlike anything else they made, I think I understand how the fans felt when that album dropped cause this is also a genre departure that I wasn't ready for.

All in all I think I'd rather them try a bunch of different styles than phone it in on the Pop Punk revival, although I would enjoy it if they went back to that style as long as they were actually inspired to. But to everyone that thinks Paramore is pop punk only they haven't been doing that type of music for like a decade now lol.

Songs from here are already growing on me and getting stuck in my head, it's just the album as a whole listening experience (and I'm not a huge fan of liar) that i have to hopefully warm up to. It has a weirder pacing than their other records due to the number of tracks I believe.

I really like the album but similar to Roo I haven't listened to much Paramore, so interesting to see that the consensus is way more mixed than I thought

Yeah I think people had an expectation that wasn't promised in the first place, they said they were going back to guitar driven music but people took that as going back to pop punk.

I will say you and @Ripper Roo gotta check out their discog cause this is one of their weakest albums to me (subject to change) but it's still at least a 7/10, if anything it's a testament to their output that people are arguing over this album.

h--- yeah, I'm bringing @Ricky Hip Hop CEO through their discog soon! I'm happy to expand this cult. Make sure to hit a couple loosies at some point too like the Twilight soundtrack songs and Stop This Song if interested.

The pauses because of the internal rhythm and the full on belting made this kinda awkward but she sounded great lmao, love this woman one of my favorite vocalists by far and underrated in conversations about good singers.
