Feb 12, 2016 The KKK still operates in the south and I can personally attest to having gone to Jasper, Texas and seen men throw up the white power sign and not too long ago they tied a black man to the back of their pickup and dragged him thru the street and killed him. As far as the government, they've mostly abolished any racist laws to where its possible now for black people to go to college and get jobs the same as anyone else but in lower class areas there's still a lot of work to be done and yes one could argue that they need to fix it themselves but the drug and g--- problem was brought about due to the fact that up until the 80s black people weren't allowed to get real jobs and literally for the most part couldn't work at legitimate establishments and at that point it becomes either sell drugs or starve to death. Now that isn't the case anymore so when a young black male commits a crime it's reasonable and expected to hold him personally accountable, but the root of the problem is the damage caused just a few short generations ago and regardless of if you think the government has made adequate reparations, denying the impact many lower-class black people feel today is laughable and objectively wrong. None of what I've said stems from any sort of personal attachment to the topic I just genuinely feel like most people don't look at the whole picture either out of malicious intent or ignorance.
