Feb 12, 2016 idk im not a music critic i can't tell you specifically what makes a good or bad song. i can tell you what i like in music and what i don't like. i like a lot of bad songs/bad music. that doesn't make art any less subjective i can tell you what makes a good piece when it comes to graphic design, or photography, because i'm versed in those fields and i can articulate my points on them. i'm not able to do that with music from an objective view
Feb 12, 2016 wtf is going on in this thread? no. Nobody actually enjoys that "art". Nobody looks at those pieces and goes "wow this piece has actually changed my mind on world issues and topics." they go "hmm we should put this in the center of our mansion, so when people walk in they see it and (hopefully) ask about it, so we can brag about status and act like we are cultured in art." It's a completely bs thing, like 90% of art, the artist doesn't give a s---, but will act as if they've moved mountains to put some avant garde blue dot on a blank canvas.

Feb 12, 2016 example A: some people love Death Grips and think they're amazing, including a lot of critics and a lot of other people think it's f---ing random noise that people overhype as being something deep, and more than it is both sides definitely think they're going by 'objective' standards, but how can that be? who's right, who's wrong? how can you say either are right if their own opinions decide that 'objectivity'? NEITHER because it's subjective you literally can't prove any of this and plenty of people spout off at the mouth this kind of bs about all different artists work and it's still never right plenty of people go on and on about how a certains artists music isn't real music or isn't good, and that NOBODY could possibly like it because it's so bad... and yet there's still always people that do... because newsflash, that's not how it works My god you're thick.
