    indeed for recovery eminem seeing that people hated on relapse he tried to do what other rappers from mainstream were doing ,trying to be successful again

    you can also see he used a lot of punchlines on recovery just like wayne was doing at the time

    I know exactly what your trying to point out and I don't disagree with it. In actual fact, I completely agree. I'm simply saying that seeking inspiration from one artist or even a handful or artists because he likes what they are doing at the time doesn't necessarily equate to him 'conforming to trends' because it's a loose theory.

    It's not time specific. MMLP2 was an ol skool besties boys vibe it's fair to say surely we agree on that, In terms of beat selection at least? You can see what inspired the beat selection clearly there. That wasn't him trying to fit into modern rap culture, that was him regressing almost for want of a better word, and paying homage to the backpack era.
