f--- are you talking about? Could you have come up with a less valid retort? Whether you agree or disagree with my politics, I know the issues and decide based on their merits. I've debated circles around you in the politics section and you know it.

I mean, let me just step back and make sure I am understanding the stance you chose to take here - I mocked Pitchfork's write up, and your retort is "you voted for Barack Obama because he's black"? Is that what you're sticking with? Do you want to try that again?

Btw, tpab is now the highest rated album (in any genre) of the 2010s on RYM.

and Blacker the berry is the highest rated song of the year on RYM

its weird how into black messiah ppl were then like... they weren.t. kendrick mightve stolen the 'holy s---, this black artist is talking politics!' narrative, while dre stole the 'fuqqq he's back! finally!' thing

anyways, agreed. Father John Misty and D'Angelo were both better than tpab, as actual albums. but i think tpab is a good choice given how political high profile selections like this tend to be

Even though you disagree with TPAB critically, it's hard not to support a rap album being this lauded, right?

Black Messiah is an album that I would call close to perfect and yet I don't listen to it very often.

No one is really surprised, even the haters. I mean...this album has been #1 on almost every list...They can hate, but the facts back up that this a great album.

i wonder if there's a "lesson" there -- both black messiah and tpab you admire... but not enjoy. we've wanted black artists to tap into their inner whats goin on but when they do, we turn on them. smh!

Barter 6's replay value is so great . I intially loved TPAB but it doesn't have that great replay value. Still a very good album but not as good as GKMC,S80 or OD. But Im not mad seeing TPAB #1 always good to see Kendrick doing well.
