Oct 10, 2016 2 years ago my response would be "f--- pitchfork you f---ing haters" ,but now i "agree". (10 years is a little bit too much tho, but hes pretty much s--- since MMLP2 IMO) The next solo LP will be an important album for me. I hope the good music returns.
Oct 10, 2016 Don't blame Rick Rubin, he's clearly wanted to go in this direction for a while, just look at W.T.P. from Recovery. The real problem is that I think Em did notice the criticism from fans after Recovery, and instead of interpreting it as "Well, they probably want something with more genuine emotion, better production, and less screaming", he chose to take it as "They obviously want me to rap and rhyme super duper ultra fast and whisper over my own generic, badly mixed production and barely altered samples of popular country songs!"
Oct 10, 2016 people that think choppy flow is bad are mentally challenged if you dont like it doesnt mean its bad
Oct 10, 2016 I can literally never imagine myself taking something so serious that I have nothing to do with creating as much as these people do
Oct 10, 2016 Pitchfork had a field day with Eminem that day lmao. Interesting points though, I can't deny. Bu to me, that was a little too biased. Although these days, I do feel a little indifferent towards Em.
Oct 10, 2016 Honestly its getting to the point where I think the eminem s--- talk is getting lame though lol
Oct 10, 2016 Its been past that point for a minute now. If people are gonna s--- on the guy so much the least they could do is bring some new material once and awhile
Oct 10, 2016 Barter 6 > everything eminem has done in the last decade He still has a goat trilogy and I liked Encore as well but everything else he has done just falls flat. Like everything, he has bare minimum to nothing when it comes to flow and all the production on his albums is f---ing awful and forgettable save for a few tracks you could count on one hand.
Oct 10, 2016 Eminem sucks and has s----d for 15 years. Thug is the best rapper alive. Don't quote me acne ridden anti social virgin teens, go tell your parents you hate them for no reason as you listen to Cleanin Out My Closet.
Oct 10, 2016 Is there a link to this review? Otherwise I'm just given to believe that the OP wrote this himself.
Oct 10, 2016 it's hard to take p4k's opinion on eminem seriously in the context of their MMLP2 review using perceived homophobic lyrics in Rap God as a negative point of the album's quality, but i think their points here are valid. it's rough because you can see that he still has the talent to rhyme as well as he ever has, but he just has really bad taste, and unfortunately that reflects in the work. So Far... is a great song in some regards, insofar as it hits on a subject that em can talk about in 2014 without sounding like he's trying too hard to recapture something that's no longer relevant (I'm On Everything), but then between corny s--- like the log cabin anecdote (pun intended) and the godawful decision to use Joe Walsh for the sample, it's nearly unlistenable, even as a tongue-in-cheek thing. someone needs to take the reins from him on his next album, because he's got the talent, but no sense of how to apply it successfully
Oct 10, 2016 Wonder if the person who wrote this knows pitchfork is painfully bad as well? Anyway, it genuinely seems to me that people are unaware of eminem's style/gimmick. It's always been the same.. eminem was never (even at his highest of highs) a melodic masterpiece. With that said, neither was rap. When em was great it had little to do with beats and melodies, while they were certainly miles and miles ahead of his current state he has always been a technically driven lyricist. I can't count how many times he's pointed that out, especially early in his career in an attempt to seperate himself from pop stars. I think people don't understand his intent anymore, although again he's stated it a million times. I can promise you he is fully aware he doesn't fit in with the current "rap" scene. I say "rap" because it genuinely feels like a different genre today.. and before I get hate I'm not saying for better or worse but it's entirely different. There's less focus on words/flow/skill with constructing rhymes and far greater emphasis on melodies and beats that sound good in a car. Which again, was never really his thing
