Aug 7, 2015 d---, thanks bro. That's exactly the one, glad to know I was remembering it right. I remember watching this and thinking "Holy s--- I hope he makes this into a song at some point and I get to hear it.
Aug 7, 2015 the vast majority of it was recorded between late 2013 and the last few weeks. at least four songs were finished after mid-june.
Aug 7, 2015 What's go figure out? Dre said he recorded after hanging out on set ... Its all new dude.
Aug 8, 2015 what? i see TPAB in the first sentence explaining first sentence? TPAB is literally the only album that has a constant sound all throughout it because the production and features are all the same people.... it actually sounds like it was made in one sitting..... which makes sense considering Aftermath? not sure what you mean/referring to
Aug 8, 2015 after the beats sale, it was obv part of the sale contract for him to at least release 1 album under apple exclusive. but then again, if the sale never went trough and beats streaming service would have been released like it was expected(owned by lovine and dre) he would have also released an album exclusively on his streaming service to boost the hype of the new streaming service and give it exposure.. so production probably started around the time they were planning beats streaming. the story of the movie inspiring him etc is all bs for sure(im ready to bet on that). it was just a perfect exit for him to chose the movie as the reason for this album.
Aug 8, 2015 Dre is super protective of his legacy ... there are a lot of reasons it made sense for him to release an album in timing with his movie. If "Straight Outta Compton" was released, people would say, "yeah that movie was ok, too bad he never released Detox....". It provides a ton of promotion to get more people to see the movie, which again further cements his legacy (by having people see his story). I highly doubt they negotiated it as a part of a 4 billion dollar deal that they needed an itunes exclusive, lol. If anything, he probably felt like he HAD to release something or people would hold a salty stance on DRE. It's like an asterisk on his career and legacy. This album closes his rapping career out nicely and is attached to a movie to support it.
