Aug 10, 2015 Or at least a modern Eminem album? Relapse came out SIX years ago. The Slim Shady LP came out in 1999 and was considered a classic by 2005 and The Marshall Mathers LP came out in 2000 was considered a classic by 2006. The Eminem Show came out in 2002 was considered a classic by 2008. Encore came out in 2004 but still isn't considered a classic. Either way, classic status or not, these albums were considered "old" in six years. But many people consider a modern Eminem album. I think it's time we stop considering Relapse modern and instead call it old. We could still consider it apart of the Post Hiatus Era, obviously. What do you think? Do you think Relapse is modern or old?
Aug 11, 2015 I think Relapse has aged well... maybe it is becoming considered old now. He seems so far removed from what he was on Relapse, so I guess it is an old album.
Aug 11, 2015 I think the difference between old and new is not length of time but pre/post hiatus. Before or after Eminem "changed".
Aug 11, 2015 If you mean most underrated then yeah definitely. To answer OP, classic doesn't always = old. I think after 10 years is the threshold.
Aug 11, 2015 Where did you get the 6 years after the album thing? There's no such thing as SSLP being considered classic precisely in 2005 or MMLP being classic in 2006 etc. That's ridiculous. And like @icecube mentionned above, people consider it modern because it was made post hiatus. Everything made before that people usually consider it old Em.
