From what I've gathered from the songs, it seems Eminem was mad that Source kept giving him bad reviews. He took it as a personal attack. Is it possible those reviews simply meant they didn't like Eminem's music?

What's the story behind those beefs? Was Benzino really going out of his way against Eminem, or was Eminem overreacting to those bad reviews? Who dissed who first?

I guess I could just google this, but I don't feel like it.

u c it was emyems bigest dream in the entire werld 2 have 5 microphones but benzy kept only giving him 1 and 2 n then emmyem said fu- u zeno and zeno was all like hey i can get more famous if i diss him back thn we got legendery diss tracks from emmyem so we can all thnk zino fo dat.

Ray Benzino rapper/Owner of the respected hip hop magazine The Source would fire shots at Eminem in a freestyle on Kay Slay’s Drama Hour.Just like that, A new civil war within Hip Hop was drawn.

Whenever it was for record sales, publicity, or to make a name for himself as artist, It’s still very unknown to this day. But according to Benzino, His reasoning for targeting Eminem wasn’t personal, He claimed it was against the Interscope machine and felt Eminem was responsible for raping hip hop of its Black Culture. Seeing as nothing but a small fry, Eminem just dismissed him as another bum trying to shine off his name. Benzino went ahead shortly there after and recorded an even much more disrespectful diss record titled Die Another Day. The gloves came off and Benzino went to a new low of disrespect: he labeled Eminem as a culture stealer, The Rap Hitler, and said that he would John Benet Ramsey Em’s daughter Hailey.

Look, Benzino was getting jealous of the fact that a white boy was making a lotta moves so in spite, he gave eminem bad reviews. Then Benzino started dissing Eminem in songs and that's how it started. Literally nothing more to it.

This. So no, Eminem wasn't overreacting at all. If he killed Benzino that would have been an overreaction. But since Benzino dissed him and it's the most doable thing to diss him back. Thank god he did. I like those diss tracks.

I don't think it's about soberity of him. It was more about him being young and also at the time beefing was kinda common. Of course, he wouldn't give a s--- since he is too big to care for some stupid magazine's owner nobody even know even existed outside of USA and he has been there done that. Again, the era is a big factor too. No mainstream rappers having beef like long time. Drake and Meek Mill went at eachother but Meek didn't even do a second diss I guess. Idk..
