I been working full time for a little over a month and a half now, bustin my chops and bending over backwards to make a good impression. I've come in maybe 5 times on my day off per request to cover shifts. Sunday and Monday are my usual days off but the other day I was asked to give up my Monday off for a 5am-2pm shift. That's fine, I said sure, but then my day off today (Sunday) I get a text asking if I can come in. First time I had to say no to my employer cuz this some bs.

I feel you on that. My job does the same thing but I've learned that if they ask you to do that, than I always do it unless I'm really sick because then they see your dependable and can be a vital asset in the workplace

they know I'd come in for them basically whenever, but it's rare they need someone when I'm not already working

I work 6 days a week so they usually won't call me so I don't hit 40 cause I'm part time but it depends on what time they want me to go in at. Morning I'll probably say yeah but if it's night then I most likely made plans already.

yeah that's where my heads been at too. I'm 19 and been there less than 2 months and I'm already a go-to for the supervisors and management staff. I think I'm regretting saying no cuz they recently had an opening for a position with a salary increase. I'm still gonna talk to them about it but I think I might've chosen my first no at the wrong time lmao.

see that's the opposite of the company I work for. it has a weirdly high turn over rate and ppl love to call in sick because there's s--- all being done about the overuse of sick days.

we have a bad turn over rate too, and a loooooooot of s-----y employees, but it's just that day shift doesn't really call in night shift people, and I somehow manage to work every single night where somebody f---s up and either doesn't show up or call, or calls off, so I just get to be there while we're getting royally f----- anyways

It happens once in a while and I always come in unless I have something planned. If it was up to me I'd try to pick up at least an extra shift every paycheck, that time and a half is nice.
