Whoever thinks he has fallen off doesn't know a thing about hip hop..the guy has in a way gotten better..it's crazy to say he isn't as good as he was...

he's so much better... he's happier, more confident, the storytelling and metaphor are on another level and the rhyming is exponentially better than it's ever been

I don't think he has fallen off completely, MMLP2 has good songs on it. A good overall album if you drop a few songs. But saying he hasn't declined in skill are just Stans in denial. Only good songs post MMLP2 are Fine Line, Kings Never Die and maybe his verses on Medicine Man and Calm Down.

i just don't see how you could reasonably think he has improved, go listen to I'm Back and try to say he raps better now. He used to sound so natural and made it seem effortless. now his drug addled brain overheats 4 bars in to every verse.

His voice/tone on Beautiful is so amazing. I love his tone on topless too.

@csw621 But there was no sslp voice on ShadyXV

i am a big eminem fan but he did fell off , he doesn't have the same hunger even tho he claims he does , he can't put together great albums like he used tho even tho i liked mmlp2 and relapse , he cares to much about what people around him say ( yes man) , the production he picks now is not as good as it used to be , some hooks are corny and he has more strugle bars than in his prime

At the end of the day it's subjective. Phrases like "he can't put together great albums like he used to" have to do with personal preference. I witnessed Em's prime and enjoy his new material way more than some of his old material. MMLP 2 is an absolute masterpiece and Recovery was a great album too - so yes he can put together albums well.

But peoples' tastes differ, it is what it is.

true, i dont really like recovery , it was forced af and that's why he had so many strugle bars and corny punchlines, production was also mediocre

i loved relapse and mmlp2 was good

That's what I mean. I for instance hated Relapse except for 3 songs, it comes all down to preferance. Looking back Recovery's production was a bit generic but I can still enjoy a lot of the songs on it

I wouldn't say he's "fallen off" completely, but to say he's as good or better than he was during his early years just doesn't make sense to me. Sure his rhyming ability may be as good or better than it's ever been, but everything else ( i.e., flow, delivery, ability to put together a cohesive project) falls short imo. We see glimpses of greatness all the time, but they are mostly just that, glimpses.

He's much less consistent in the modern era. MMLP 2 was a solid project but all over the place, Shady XV had a few gems, and Southpaw was eh. From SSLP to 8 Mile he was consistently great and for the most part he could do no wrong; a perfect balance of skill, attitude, delivery, and flow. Everything after has been a mix of great, average and plain bad. More recently I think he's struggled to deliver cohesive projects that are sonically appealing. He's simply lost touch with what sounds good, and focused his energy on what he thinks is impressive. No doubt the dude can still rhyme his a--- off, but when he tries accents, yelling, rhyming every syllable, choppy flows, and speed rap it's extremely hit or miss.

I think there's no doubt the ability is still there, but he's lost the drive/hunger, focus and sense of direction which fueled him during his first three albums. He seems to just be going through the motions now and even admits it on songs like Bad Guy and Guts Over Fear. I don't give a s--- about sales and think people use that as a crutch on both sides of the argument. I think as time has passed he tried to up sales/remain relevant by using the formulaic We Made You, cookie cutter singles like Not Afraid, LTWYL, Survival and The Monster (cool video though), and mixing it up (3am, Rap God and Berzerk). Having said all that, more recently I thought MMLP 2 had a lot of solid songs and really enjoyed Medicine Man and Fine Line. When we get more information/promotion on the next album, as always, I think both people who love and hate him will still look for it.

    Haha sorry for the novella...
