...ever feel extremely insecure about their art?

99% of the people I show my music to say they love it, but then I'm left wondering do they really or am I just being trolled most of the time online or are they just saying it because they feel obligated cause I'm doing s--- for this SXN, and are people IRL just too nice to say anything bad about it to my face?

and then i see people like Jet blow up instantly when they post things and get responses from their favorites on stuff like twitter, and TONS of views and s---, while I feel like I'm always peddling my stuff all over the place, struggling to even get a response or anything... even here, and can't seem to grow my fanbase online or find people willing to feature that are actually gonna be quality

I also instantly get torn down when people like JMG say some negative s--- to me about my music (knowing he's a fucktard of a troll that I should ignore). Idk, makes me want to stop working on anything sometimes

s--- can get depressing fam :cryreides:

anyways, not sure what I expect out of this thread but I just wanted to vent because it's been bothering me for the better part of two years now

if you're doing art for the soul purpose of someone else's opinion you might be doing it wrong.

Take Bishop Nehru as an example
He began posting in my home town of OFT when he was a youngin
His music was uninspiring basic boring odd future clone garbage
FF a couple years he has a collab album with DOOM

    well that's the thing, I don't

but as a human and someone trying to share his music with the world, it's hard not to care that i feels like next to no one gives a s--- or actually likes it

    f--- what people think anyway..

my production isn't everyone's cup of tea either..but I do it for me, it's what I like to do..it's my style

don't really care if no one likes it tbh.. I appreciate if they do, but I make music for myself

    keep doing you

Lmaooo, I feel this. The way I see it tho, getting recognition without a solid foundation is a massive curse, and in no way sustainable. Once your face is out there, you want to be able to capitalize on what's happening (not saying you're not there now, I have no idea if you are or not).

I'm a hypocrite for saying this, but don't stress too much about whats happening to the next man, and focus on getting better. Its easier said than done, I know, but its one of the most effective ways to get over that insecurity (for me, at least).

Btw, I legit did not mean to skip out on Autumn Storm. I thought it was a great project, and I sincerely regret not being able to make time for it. I apologize if that made you feel like I don't f--- with your music, cause that's absolutely not the case

I have this problem with rhymes. I know my production s--- is good but whenever I freestyle there's always the feeling that I could do better; just something wrong with the brain; doesn't want to push out the clever words, syllables and wit.

People love them no doubt but I'm wondering if people truly love them.

idk man. i enjoy the process so ive learned over the years not to let bad feedback get you down. theres no downside to bad feedback if you dont let there be. and in the end you can always learn something from it and get valuable advice. there's no benefit to being insecure. but i do understand, if from like a brand image pov, someone wants to be really picky with what they put out. but im personally not at that point yet to worry about it. id rather just make s--- i like and share it with people and learn, grow etc

I can relate bro. All my IRL friends love everything that I do and support my beats a lot. And recently I've been shown lots of love from people online. It feels great when you can create something and have people love/bump it. But what matters most to me is how much I personally feel about my piece. Praise means nothing if I don't personally love that material. Also people think that negative feedback on music would hurt someones feelings but how can we improve if we can't see flaws.

no love for AS tho :mjsosad:
It's all good, I figured other stuff came up and you couldn't. But I'd love to try and work with you again, I need a rapper for one of the songs on my new EP.
Idk, I think it actually helps. It makes me an insane perfectionist with everything and it all ends up being the best, absolutely most polished stuff I put out. Like if it's not up to par for me after 50+ listens and combing through it all over and over every time I hear it, it's not getting put out. I use to just drop whatever after about 3-4 days of working on it, if that... and none of that stuff was worth keeping, which is why it's all gone from my SC now.

I've also learned that if there's something I feel like I should/could be doing to make it better, to should just do it and stop saying I'll do it next track/project, and stop procrastinating it, because in the long run it becomes easier and second nature, and everything just sees massive improvements with more time like that put into refining everything.

You're one of the most talented on this site.

A bit of insecurity might be a good thing too though because it means you're never satisfied and are always looking to impress.
