Jan 21, 2016 @Soldier provide reasons why Q is better instead of baiting with just videos or this thread is being moved to music sxn.
Jan 21, 2016 Schoolboy Q just flat out makes better music for the ears. I don't want to hear Kendrick rapping in a high pitched voice like a little b----. Q's delivery and flow far surpasses Kendrick's.
Jan 21, 2016 schoolboy used to be my favorite until Kendrick dropped TPAB. I enjoyed Q when he first came out, I thought his mixtapes were great, and H&C was amazing. But to me Q hasn't grown as an artist because he's essentially a fan. When I listen to him, I get the impression he's strictly following a blueprint that worked for other rappers (50 cent & co). Lyrically he's pretty weak, specially compared to Soulo, Kendrick and Jay Rock. Everything is straight and to the point. He rarely dabbles in metaphor, and when he does it's very obvious or stale... he's more like a meme rapper who keeps repeating the same words such as "that yay yay, that yay yay" To be honest Q is like a poor version of Dmx: someone who constantly reminds you of classic artists due to his energy, but in the end you can't really explain "who is schoolboy Q". This is where Kendrick & Ab-Soul are head and shoulders above him. Their metaphors are great and they do a great job of expressing emotions on record. They're also great storytellers and can really make you feel for whoever they're talking about. Whereas with Q he seems like a kid who watches a Tarantino movie and then wants to make Tarantino movies. You can imitate the dialogue and eventually come up with some witty s---, but ultimately you're going to miss the "essence" whenever you try to imitate others. And talking about Energy, I feel like Jay Rock can give you that too, he can do what Q does and he can do it better (except the club songs)
Jan 21, 2016 Yeah alright now that I think about it I'll move to Music SXN considering I had to move two Q threads yesterday.
Jan 21, 2016 Nop... Kendrick clearly has a better flow than Q I invite you to read some analysis of his flow: http://www.rapanalysis.com/2012/11/rap-music-analysis-14-kendrick-lamar.html http://genius.com/posts/1610-How-to-listen-to-kendrick-s-backseat-freestyle As for who makes better music for the ear, thats subjective as f--- lol.
Jan 21, 2016 I could understand someone enjoying Q's delivery more, I feel like kendrick has a better technical delivery, but Q brings a lot of energy to a song so I'm fine with this. But when it comes to the flows, Q is not touching kendrick in this category. Whether he has to make incredible transition between different rhythmic levels or replicate some unorthodox flows, Kendrick has mastered a lot more diverse & complex flows than schoolboy q has. Q been using the 2 same basic flows on almost every song (with some variations of speed depending on the song) Q actually relies on his delivery/energy a lot.
Jan 22, 2016 my money is on Q. his next album will be one for the books. watch. yg & Q going to run the west this year.
