Feb 17, 2016 @WPG @Narsh @Worm @Mike Tyson random #stan thing but you guys might appreciate it. i was intrigued by kanyes tweet the other day that hes the great grandson of a slave, so i dug around. looks like he is: http://www.genealogy.com/ftm/m/a/r/Michael-Edward-Marshall/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0099.html
Feb 17, 2016 Link me one mass produced sneaker that's available in 150+ cities worldwide and resales for $1500 the day it drops. Link me one sneaker that people wait an hour in line for a raffle ticket that will maybe win them a chance to buy the shoes. Link me one sneaker that people camped outside a week in advanced for. Good luck.
Feb 17, 2016 Also, beyond the Yeezy line, anything that Kanye wears is automatically hyped. Go look up the resale prices for this shoe: Oh wait Amazed prob doesn't even know what these joints is called
Feb 17, 2016 People were legit trying to emulate Kanye's "stacks" b. That's the way the jeans fall underneath the knees.
Feb 17, 2016 Air Jordan's. 1985. Pre Internet and they did over a hundred million the first year. Im not saying Yeezys aren't more popular and expensive now but to say it's unprecedented is forgetting what Nike did with Jordan back in 1985. One could argue they pretty much gave Kanye the platform to launch his shoes from. But I'm fine with having a difference of opinion.
Feb 17, 2016 Nah ppl in 85 could actually go to stores and pick those up at retail. Nowadays only certain pairs get mass produced on that level.
Feb 17, 2016 I own 4 pairs of Air Jordan 1s (the re-release of the 1985 ones you're referring to), the most I've paid for a pair is $400.
Feb 17, 2016 never said they couldn't. I'm talking about the impact the sneakers had. Yeah Kanyes sneakers have by far been more popular but I'd argue the cultural impact was far smaller. Back in 85/86 every MFer had Air Jordan's and it did that pre Internet with marketing that would pale in comparison to today's standards. .
Feb 17, 2016 at first i thought "thats not a meltdown" then he went batshit crazy its not meltdown as in a classic meltdown..but this is def. a mental meltdown
