Apr 5, 2016 not from what i understand, no. kanye has a team of people to flesh out ideas, while drake basically asks for full or nearly-finished songs to be presented to him.
Apr 5, 2016 Kanye came out as a producer, we always knew he had people writing for him. Drake came out as an artist and lyricist, don't even try to compare that fraud to ye
Apr 5, 2016 Jay's verse is so short. Thought it was going to be an Otis kind of verse when Ye came in.
Apr 5, 2016 you and i are not coming at this issue with the same information, lol. i know people who have been in writing sessions for each. because nobody cares. look at the meek beef: by any measure, meek botched his attack on drake, and deserves the loss on a battle basis. but he proved to the public what plenty of people already knew: that drake has plenty of songs for which he didn't write a single word. and people either laughed it off or jumped through a bunch of hoops to discredit him. (as an aside, we have plenty of demos/skeletons from kanye sessions, many of which show him working out ideas in real time, none of which are straight-through reference vocals.) none of this is to say that there aren't drake songs that he wrote, partially or in there entirety. and whether you think authorship is necessary for a rap artist is a personal call.
Apr 5, 2016 Sounds about right. You can always tell Kanyes had a large part in the song making and writing while with Drake he jumps to different styles all the time
Apr 5, 2016 yeah, although that's probably a separate issue. lots of people (me included) criticize drake for being a biter/trend hopper, but in theory you could do that while writing everything yourself.
