Apr 15, 2016 Royce is so different between the two that It is pretty much impossible to compare. There was a raw intensity to Death Is Certain because of the circumstances that just can't be replicated. He's more reflective here, level-headed. I'd say tonally it's close to Success Is Certain, but with the lyrical dexterity he displayed during the Bar Exam and early Street Hop sessions. Death Is Certain is better. I rate that album very highly though. I might change my mind, but this comes second right now.

Apr 16, 2016 Listened to it a few times now. It's grown on me for sure. I think I like the backside of the album than the front. From Lincoln skit on it's great. America is my favourite track I think. I still don't particularly care for Hard but maybe it'll change. I don't know what Startercoat's beat is getting so much hate. I don't think it's bad at all. He also goes off in Off which is nice. Shine's beat is good. However, I think it's just a tad bit too long. Could have cut out a minute or so. But otherwise it's a solid outing. Definitely an album that needs to grow on you, not a 1 time listen and it's amazing type. EDIT: The dude references bioaccumulation in America what rapper does that? Lol Royce going in!
Apr 16, 2016 ^ Listen a few more times. I felt the same. It's not a classic or anything but it gets better after a few listens. I added Savages, Dead President Heads and Which Is Cool to my playlist for burning a copy. Comes out to 1 hour 17 mins.
Apr 17, 2016 Good start to the album with Tabernacle, Prey and Hard. Startercoat is not that bad, production screws it up. Wait and Shine are brilliant. Flesh, Hello and Mistress could all be swapped with tracks from TTS. Dope! and America are good, slight dip with Layers and Quiet. Gottaknow is hard as f---. Off should of been a bonus

Apr 19, 2016 Definite purchase for me. I need to revisit the Bar Exam series to rank them properly, but as far as albums go: Death Is Certain, Prhyme > Layers > The Revival > Street Hop > Success Is Certain > Rock City > Independant's Day
