It's so crazy how the 2000's changed my perception of Ghostface, too.

I used to think everyone in Wu were basically equals, and it was pretty hard to pick a favorite or a best member.

I always considered GZA or Raekwon as the best, but Inspectah Deck was my favorite, because he always had my favorite verses on 36 Chambers and Wu Forever, and I might be one of like 10 people who liked The Movement album lol. Plus, you had Methodman with Tical, Tical 2 and Blackout with Redman, plus he was on tons of huge collaborations in the 90's and early 2000's.

But, man, Ghostface really has solidified himself as the top Wu artist, from a solo standpoint. I mean, maybe you could argue for Raekwon, but I don't think it's that close anymore. And it's wild because it's happened in most artists' most unappealing time periods (late 30's/40's). Also, Pretty Toney Album gets overlooked.

its ok though, I guess its just a personal list. A lot of random choices that will never make an actual albums list though

Lmao @ you being obsessively all over rap forums during the Clipse's heyday and sleeping on them until 2008. But that's neither here nor there.

Both h--- Hath No Fury and Dark Fantasy are masterpieces from brilliant artists, important artists. I'm not going to speak ill of them. I have Tha Tour ahead of both because it has--by sheer volume--more songs that I would consider classics than either of the other releases. It also covers a broader emotional spectrum, hits more moods, and--though the other three MCs in question are great in their own ways--has far and away the best and the most innovative rapping.

There isn't one song by Kanye or the Clipse--on the albums in question or otherwise--where they rap like Thug does on "Givenchy." It has the very pinnacle of Atlanta street rap, but it also has wholly vulnerable love songs that nearly make "Lost in the World" seem trite. It's brilliantly sequenced and paced. It's 82 minutes (exactly as long as the Drake album) but plays like half of that. Thug performs as if Wayne had distilled his 05-08 run down to one project, and Quan more than keeps up.
Ummmmmmmm first of all, Reasonable Doubt has been my #1 Jay album since I was like 11. So you're exaggerating, as per usual. I've definitely reshuffled the order in which I view his catalog in the decade-plus since--as I've gotten older and come to understand hip-hop better. I'd hope for similar growth from you, but you're still buying Bad Meets Evil posters, aren't you?

The average person isn't digging around to find, evaluate, and give lengthy reexaminations to rap albums. Why would they? People have jobs, people have lives, and who really cares? You saying that one of my picks is invalid because it's not a widely-held belief* is identical to Timmy saying Eminem is better than Scarface because that's what two teenagers polled on the street would say so.

*And once again, you're grossly underestimating the popularity and impact of rappers outside your hermetic little 2002-centric view of the culture.

I respect the idea of trying to be different though, but sometimes you can tell people are trying really hard to go against the grain.

The most notable absence for me would probably be Diplomatic Immunity

What makes it so far behind Purple Haze?

I mean, I think it's pretty well-documented how much I love Dipset and that record in particular. But if we're splitting hairs--as we have to when you're picking barely over an album a year--there's a handful of filler on there. It would come in third, behind Purple Haze and Come Home With Me but just ahead of SDE.
