90's, not only because of the quality of music, but the overall atmosphere.

I mean, I'm sure 2010 is fun for a lot of fans, because of how accessible music is to you, but to me, it was much better during the 90's, when you had to wait for everything.

We didn't have social media, youtube, or albums at our finger tips. You had to go out and buy the tape/CD. You had to look in the booklets, find what albums were dropping on that label, and wait until they did.

Having a bad album, meant it was a huge deal, just as if it was a classic.

Like you'd only have a certain amount of money to spend on tapes/cd's, so you had to make it count lol. You couldn't just download 10 albums a week and pick and choose favorite songs.

If you bought tapes, you HAD to listen to the entire tape. You couldn't even skip tracks.

Music videos were a big deal. And you really only could watch them when the shows came on BET/MTV that showed them. You couldn't go on YouTube.

I mean, when you guys hear about a great battle, you can search on YouTube, and boom, you can watch it, replay it, dissect it, etc.

I STILL have not seen the DMX vs Jay Z battle, which was like a legend.

Artists didn't have a bunch of interviews that you could watch at any time, or social media outlets to pour their hearts into. We literally just knew these guys from a few interviews we saw, and what was said on their music.

It felt iconic to watch Biggie, Jay, DMX, 2Pac, Nas, Wu Tang, Outkast, Eminem etc.

You'd talk between your friends about a certain artist making an appearance on MTV, BET, late night, or on the radio.

Now, that s--- isn't a big deal. Back then? It was a huge deal. You'd have to wait for the show, from whatever outlet, and you actually cared about the questions and answers.

I mean, I'm happy for the 2010's, it must be awesome to have your favorite artist release 2-4 projects in a year, and for them to be SO accessible...

I'm not trying to discredit the 2000's and 2010's, but the era was totally different.

It's like Jay Z said on Volume 3... About opening up a tape or a CD. "Yeah, I know you just ripped the packaging off your CD... If you like me you readin the credits right now"

It's hard to explain to the younger generation. It was just such a fun time to be a hip hop fan. I'm sure you guys love that things are so accessible, which is cool.

When Napster first surfaced, I thought it was the most amazing thing ever. I definitely loved downloading albums instead of buying them, and I continue to do that.

However, looking back, I think that's why I loved the 90's so much. Everything seemed so much bigger, more iconic. You were more in awe of rap. At least I was.

I used to have to ride my BMX down to Sam Goody to get a cassette tape single with a s-----y B side so you'd only play and rewind one side of the tape over and over until it finally wore and snapped. Now these kids are chasing Pokemons on their phones. Back in my day you had to work for it and do drugs if you wanted to see Pokemons

I look at my top rappers and notice they're all older artists. Maybe in another 5 or 10 years that will morph and become more representative of both eras together and time will be kind to post-90s like it probably is to 90s. Who knows. As of right now, Biggie, g--- Starr, Wu, Pac, Jay reign supreme

Very different. Almost not even the same genre anymore.. 90s easy though. 90s defined rap in my opinion.. I liked where the focus of the music was directed. Rap isn't about melodies to me, I'm more interested in what stories/lines/messages someone can create. 90s also probably had 60-70% of the best to ever do it in their peak forms.
