Just did some quick googling and found the stats.

In 1938, 11% of black children were born to single mothers
In 1965, 8% of black children were born to single mothers
In 2015, 72% of black children were born to single mothers

So the disintegration of the black family has only occurred relatively recently. Pretty big reach to blame it on slavery when black families were relatively stable across the board until about 140 years after slavery was abolished.

Sure, yes, there's a myriad of social and economic factors... as I allude in my post. (ftr numbers are rising for white and hispanic children as well, as we've seen an overall disintegration of traditional family life in America.)

But my point is about the clear thread from slavery to this current disintegration. I don't know if your stats are based off the Moynihan Report or what but it's all about economic conditions, and the fact that single mother births were relatively low during the apex of the black middle class in mid-20th century America is not particularly surprising to me.
