I'd be surprised if Brady plays that much longer

I can see Brady playing another 3 years to be honest. He did just turn 39 but hes a lot like Manning. In which he's so far ahead of the defenses he gets rid of the ball so quickly and takes such few hits. The question is going to be what happens if Jimmy plays at such a high level? I mean do the patriots give up the future to keep Brady a few more season or move on to Jimmy G and Brady plays elsewhere if he wants to keep playing? Watching these first few games of Jimmy is definitely going to be interesting.

That's a very good question. What if Jimmy absolutely lights it up during the first month of the season? There will be major pressure next offseason for New England to choose one or the other. It'd be a similar situation to where Indy was. Do you keep Brady for a couple more years or Jimmy for the next 15? Not to mention the amount of compensation they could get in a trade for Brady would be unreal.

If Jimmy lights it up I think Pats fans should consider the real possibility of Brady playing somewhere next year if he wants to keep playing. Montana, Farve, Manning all finished their careers somewhere else. He could retire in his home state playing for Chip Kelly.

Playing for Chip Kelly would s---, but you're right, he grew up a die-hard 49ers fan. I'd say if Jimmy really lights it up then let Brady finish this season starting, and if he doesn't at least make it to the Super Bowl move on to Jimmy in 2017, which I'm pretty sure is his contract year.

I think Brady would k--- it in Chips offense. He's accuracy and quick defensive reads is what Kelly wants. But obviously wishful thinking.

It'll be hard to believe or see Brady playing anywhere else but yeah, I couldn't see the pats risking their future by letting Brady play as long as he wants. Jimmy will want to be a starter somewhere soon before he gets much older. I could see Brady playing until 43-44, as long as he doesn't have a serious injury or bad concussion until then.

And Brady's arm definitely isn't what it was a few years ago. Other than that he really hasn't fallen off too bad.

However, has Jimmy even really ever showed potential as a starting franchise qb? Absolutely not. I guess we'll find out when he starts the first 4 games (if that's what Brady's suspension still is.)

    @Fitzy @redsoxx

What's your guys take on this? If Jimmy lights it up or shows he's ready to be your franchises future what do you think the pats should do with Brady if he decides to keep playing?

If Brady takes the Pats back to the AFC Championship for like the 10th straight year and the Pats stuff Luck and the Colts in a locker for the millionth time in a row on the way there, I dunno how you trade him.

Guess it depends how good Jimmy G looks. He would have to really light it up, because hes basically expected to be 3-1 by the time Brady takes over.

I think this is the more likely scenario. If Jimmy lights it up, but Brady is still Brady and goes deep into the playoffs again, I say they'll trade Jimmy. They'll probably be able to get a 1st or 2nd round pick for him if he plays great. I really think Brady will play into his early 40s, and that's just too long for Jimmy to wait.

Brady sitting out the NE-CAR game this week with a cut on his thumb. Literally a paper cut sized scratch.

Is it really surprising that a pair of scissors injured Brady, taking him out of a game? The guy is a total p----.

Not his decision. Game 3 against Carolina's 1's is Jimmy's G's best and most important tests. Brady will be ready to rock by the Cleveland game, he doesn't need preseason reps.

Don't think anyone with a brain would question that guys toughness, hes been playing through injuries his whole career.

Oh I know, definitely not questioning his toughness, I just thought it was a really weird reason to sit out when they showed the pic on Sportscenter.

Brady is one of the toughest QBs in the NFL lol.

I think Pats will keep both QBs, unless a team offers a first rounder and more for Jimmy G.

They won't trade Brady for a number of reasons.

    1. Brady has shown zero decline in his game. Last year, before injuries, he had probably his best statistical season. I believe, at one point, he had 20tds and 0ints.

    2. Other than his knee injury in 08, he's had no major injury. Unlike Manning. If Manning never got hurt, you'd definitely see Peyton still playing.

Fact is, the NFL caters to quarterbacks. They have rules in place to preserve them. They barely get hit, unlike ten years ago.

I can see Brady playing another 3-4 years, and them keeping Jimmy for that duration.

However, they'd trade Jimmy for big time compensation. They got a 2nd rounder for garbage Matt Cassell. Otherwise, they'll just keep Jimmy.

They won't trade Brady. In today's NFL, Brady is basically a 34 year old to yesterday's NFL.
