I dont have time to look for the quotes right now
But my point was that you don't need complex music to paint vivd pictures and deliver complex and deep messages
And in my opinion the excecution in that form
Was better in GKMC

Its just a shame to make an "elite listenners only" album like tpab when you deliver such positive and creative messages
It needs to be universal
Gkmc had that
Hence the critical and commercial acclaim

I have to disagree with everything you've justd said.

1) there's no such thing as an "elite listenners only album". It's true that Kamasi said people with a "vast musical knowledge" will always understand why tpab si so amazing. But It doesn't mean you need to be an elite listenner for this, because that kind of music was the norm 30 years ago.
When gkmc came out, a lot of kendrick fans actually noticed how kendrick was trying to dumb it down to make it more accessible for this generation of listeners. But we also know for a fact that mainstream hip hop is becoming more and more 'dumbed-down' as each year goes on which is why m ost people feel like the golden era of hip hop can't be touched. This is also the reason why most hip hop heads don't give a f--- if f--- if an album is "universal" or not in the mainstream, it has nothing to do with the quality of that album.

2) Tpab was probably intended for a very specific demographic but I feel like everybody can relate to it. And despite being for a specific demographic, tpab has much more acclaim and just sold as well worldwide (despite having 0 radio hit).
Sure, gkmc sold more in the US, but tpab seems to be doing better world wide. (according to chartnews)

I wouldn't mind just a freestyle LP of fresh ideas separate from anything that has to do with Section 80 or TPAB to hold us over till the next album..

I read in an interview with Flying Lotus that back in 2013 Kendrick recorded to a bunch of his beats ...all the ones he was going to use for his new album....but he never got word if Kendrick was going to release them.

Maybe we'll get some Kendrick Lamar x Flying Lotus Production ??
