OD was decent at best as I already stated but what about his older mixtapes? That was only his last one.

also, mixtape taint discography? when you really think about it...a lot of people take 'mixtapes', aka non-studio official releases, to put out demos, screw-around tracks, parodies, etc etc just trash or more content for their fans

that hardly taints a discography???? @BuffaloBoy V The World

It doesn't need to indicative of his sound or career to be a part of his discography no matter how irrelevant it is.

Kendrick's tapes didn't have anything like that on them though you're going off topic.

tbh I don't include O.D. in his "official" catalog either, and thats one of my favorite mixtapes of the past 5 years. A lot of kendrick fans even go as far as to say its kendrick's best project.

We're not discussing new school rappers we're talking about all rappers ever since he would be the apparent goat.

I'm not going off topic. I'm generalizing and broadening my argument. Why would mixtapes tarnish discographies, when the idea behind a mixtape is something that isn't perfect or finished or calculated

i'd agree with this but kendrick was just a kid when he released those mixtapes

it'd be a stretch to try and include them in his official discography

This. If anything not taking his 2 last mixtapes into account is actually hurting his legacy as he's only 4/4 instead of 6/6

and like a lot of rappers said, kendrick still has one of the best catalogs, even compared to the all time greats.

They are official projects. He was over 18 for most of his mixtapes, 1999 and EARL were made when they were both kids and are both counted in their discography's by everyone.

It depends though. GOAT status and what it takes to be considered such isn't standardized for everyone. It isn't far fetched to say success translates to greatness. Do I agree with that? No, but it would be super easy to believe that rationale.
