I've heard enough of Cole rapping about being a virgin and "that girl in college."

Kendrick. Both are in my top 5 favourite rappers though. Kendricks studio albums are better than all of coles but cole has the best mixtape in FNL.

Cole doesn't have a classic yet. Cole's rhymes are straightfoward one-level type. Cole is basically conscious rap for beginners. I am a fan of both but any answer other than Kendrick should be chalked up to relatability, not skill

Cole has a serious lack of energy a lot of the time, the only project ive really liked from him is the live version of fhd

I'd rather listen to Cole but his discography is really mediocre from an overall standpoint. Neither of them are close to my favourites though that's for sure. I'm actually somewhat excited for Cole's new project if I'm bein real due to the ten track thing. I wanna see what he can do keepin things concise rather than having insomnia curing filler.

Kendrick's just a pretentious boring intrusive public speaker now.

I think Cole would beat Kendrick in a beef. Kendrick has a better catalog, but I think Cole has the potential to be a better overall artist.

I was a Cole stan when he first came out, but he got mediocre so fast. Dreams and Lights Please still are favorites though, especially Lights Please.

in 2010 it was a tossup but since then kendrick has become arguably the greatest rap artist since kanye and cole has become one of the most stagnant and mediocre rappers of all-time. if i had to rank their projects it'd be...
gkmc>section.80>tpab>untitled unmastered>friday night lights>overly dedicated>the warm up >>>>>>>>>>>> everything else cole has done

every facet? cmon bro. Here's what I think they're better than each other at, objectively

    • Pure technical skill: Kendrick. I don't see how this can really be debated, Cole has had some great technical verses here and there like return of simba and everyone dies, but put up whatever you think is Cole's best bars technically speaking and compare that to Black Friday, Deep Water, Pay for it, maad city, BDKMV remix, cartoon & cereal, That Part remix, etc. On black Friday alone kdot blew away cole's remix and anything else he's ever done technically imo, and you can objectively look at this by looking at rhyme schemes, syllables, etc.
    • Hooks/singing: Cole. Kdot has some great hooks as well like Money trees, alright, BDKMV, C&C, etc but I feel Cole just s----s out these hooks constantly, he's the best at this in rap imo. And singing goes to cole without question bc kdots "singing" is admittedly cringey
    • Emotional Impact: Split. I think Cole is great at relating to people about everyday s---, and songs like 03 adolescence, apparently, see world, 2face, false prophets, and more are powerful. But Kendrick does this great as well throughout GKMC, and his most relatable album imo S80. Too many songs to name but Sing about me, no makeup, and U are the ones that really stick out in this regard. Kdots songs just have a wider range of emotions in them, and in songs like U and Cartoons and ceral, u can feel the intensity and rawness.
    • Social Issues/Impact: Kendrick. Alright is basically the protest anthem of our generation, which speaks volumes. And while Cole tackles plenty of social issues, he does it directly. Which is fine, but Kdot does it in a really poetic way. There are layers to what he says, and you can't take much of what he says on TPAB at face value, you have to dig into it and interpret a lot of it for yourself, which imo is more effective. If either of them will be talked about 50 yrs from now, I'm pretty sure it will be Kendrick.
    • Song making ability: Cole. I'm giving cole a slight advantage here. This is mainly because kdot focuses more on making his concept projects as a whole mesh together and sound great, at the expense of making each song have lots of replay ability and catchiness themselves. Kendrick can make great songs obviously, and he uses a wider variety of sounds/voices than cole, but Cole gets the edge imo simply because he has more songs that have better replay value out of the context of their album.
    • Overall talent/ability: Kendrick. I think Kendrick has the edge overall because the quality and craftsmanship of his work is unmatched. Cole makes lots of great songs, but he hasn't put together a project yet (and I don't think he can) that can match TPAB or GKMC in terms of cohesiveness and the thought put into it. For Kendrick's work, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. While for Cole, the individual parts or songs are better than the whole of any of his actual projects. Kendrick is just a better artist because of this imo. When I listen to TPAB from start to finish, it feels like art. Every song, every sound, every rhyme, is there for a reason. I don't get this feeling from any of Cole's projects. All this being said, Cole is still a great artist imo, and my 2nd current favorite.

As an unbiased fan of both but not to stanning levels.

    TPAB >>> GKMC >>> FHD >>> S.80 >>> UU >>> BS >>> SS

In terms of albums, Kendrick is way ahead of Cole. He's given us classics and some of the best songs ever heard. Cole has given us gems, but all of his albums tend to just fall apart at some point. BS was just overall quite meh but FHD started really strong but completely fizzled. Also Note to Self is some bs, that doesnt belong on any album ever.

Cole is bigger than Kendrick though because I think people have an easier time relating to him because he's not really from any massive struggle and generally lived a calm life compared to people like say 21 savage lol. The lyrics feel realer as a result. But overall, Kendrick's storytelling is unparalleled.
