How many more songs were recorded during the period of 4 Your Eyez Only?
Elite: "Countless. We had to make some really tough cuts. We had to take out honestly some of my favorite songs on the album because of clarity and making sure the story and the message reached people. All of the songs will have homes eventually, it’s just a matter of giving them the proper platform."

What's y'all feelings on the album? Don't want to go through 150 pages lmao, but here's my two cents...

This album is definitely a grower, first time I heard it I was completely thrown off by the sound and didn't really understand it at all, took me a few listens to really start getting into it. In my opinion this doesn't top FHD but then again it isn't really directly comparable, as this album is totally different to anything Cole has done before, but even with that said this album is still fantastic in its own right.

The intro is up there with one of Cole's best intro tracks and Immortal, Change, Neighbors and 4 Your Eyez Only are my personal highlights. The only songs I wasn't f---ing with were the singing tracks, for example Ville Mentality should have been left off the album, that off key singing wasn't appealing at all. The She Mine tracks were cool but I don't see myself playing them often cos of the singing, even though I liked the rapping parts on the tracks. De Ja Vu I hated at first listen but grew on me a lot, can see this being the main single from the album.

The story and message of the album is f---ing crazy, the title track really might be the best song Cole has ever made, no exaggeration that song was jaw dropping. That last verse made me shed a tear. Special shout out to the first verse on Neighbors too, that rhyme scheme was too f---ing ill. I appreciate and respect Cole for making an album like this, even though I don't f--- with every song. If he really did make it for his dead friends daughter than that's f---ing dope. He been rapping about her for years and we never knew this whole backstory, "I'm playing daddy to another n-----'s daughter" on 2face.

A part of me feel's there is more music to come though, like another album/mixtape/is on the way, it just feels kind of incomplete to leave it like this and for Cole to go on another hiatus. I feel like he made this album for himself and his friends daughter, and he got another project on the way for his fans. He didn't take a two year break just to come back with 10 songs and leave again. And even though this is doing monster numbers first week I don't see this album having the overall commercial success and longevity as FHD, which was still selling 10k a week after almost two years. When I sit with the album some more I could end up liking it even more or maybe less but those are just my initial thoughts so far after a couple days.

The fact this is Cole's most coheshive, precise album makes this his best album. I can actually see the images in my head, the imagery in this album is incredible.

    I feel you bro.
I remember vividly riding around with my boy a couple years ago legitimatly saying if Drake keeps doing his thing he could be the greatest ever. Not anymore though, and it truly f---ing pains me to admit it.

i agree with a lot of the s--- you saying, especially the last paragraph saying it feels like theres more to come and he can't just go on another hiatus

i disagree tho with your disliking of the singing (off key lol) songs ... i really like ville mentality and both parts of she mine, i think they are really crucial for the album ... that just speaks to the subjective nature of music tho

the problem with there being such a small amount of songs is that when you have problems with even just a couple songs it gets magnified ... everyones bound to have a problem with at least one songs like we are seeing ... whether it be the singing songs, or folding clothes, or immortal like myself ... thats why i think he needed just a couple more songs

if you're only going to have 10 songs you got to know they are all GREAT

dont you guys find cole just seems to miss the mark a lil bit when he tries too hard for bangers ??

theres times when he makes them organically and it works ...

but then theres song like trouble and on this album for me, immortal ... where they're good songs but they don't quite hit how they're supposed to as a b-----r

a good comparison is neighbours which is sort of the second b-----r but its more organic to me and i love that one

thats one of the main criticisms people have of cole is even his bangers are "boring"

like immortal is nice but its still not the song you throw on when you get passed the aux cord cause you know its just gona b--- ... at least imo ... like its nice but it just doesn't quite hit hard enough, even the hook, like it don't really get you hyped like it should

for some reason he just can't make those organic BANGERS like future say and even drake can just make with ease
