f--- this f--- boy I actually never care what his opinion on music I enjoy is... All he does is sit alone in his room and critique every song he listens to which sure it's cool but there's more to life than sitting in your room and studying a song... The biggest thing is I feel he lacks all relatability to all the music he reviews, he never says anything to suggest he understands where the artist is coming from personally or emotionally... So I feel like why should I care if he enjoys a project I love... Or any critic for that matter... They don't relate to the music, they review it

Side note. It's VILLE mentality buddy. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with the singing on that record.

Bruh, Cole literally spells out that Neighbors is a break in the narrative of the album; "took a little break just to annotate how I feel" (yes that can also mean multiple things but clearly considering the concept and flow of the album, taking a break from the story line to make a song about his own personal experience is clearly implied) I don't get what's so hard to understand about that.. Then, folding clothes isn't about Cole, it's about this hood n----- doing something different and changing his mind set, about "doing the right things".. Which is something most n----s would see as corny, which is why the song itself is kinda corny.. It's literally supposed to be. I don't know why I get worked up over Fantano's s-----y reviews every time, but clearly there are some extremely basic things (such as the reason why Neighbors doesn't fit the narrative) that he just doesn't get, and clearly didn't take the time to get. Yet he's supposed to be an expert of some sort. "Do you n----s listen to music or do you just skim through it" is such a true line on so many levels.

But is there really time for a "break" on a 10 track album that is clearly made to tell a story? Don't get me wrong I love neighbors, but Coles sole mission with this album was to tell a story. There's certain things that don't add up which ruins the cohesiveness of the album. As for foldin clothes, there's a million better ways to convey the message of the simple things being the most important.

Neighbors isn't a break in the story actually. Neighbors can be looked from the perspective of Cole's d--- dealing friend and his neighbors think he's selling dope.

It comes after change, which is the friend trying to change for the better, but even if he does change people will still think he's selling dope.

Also, it parallels with Cole life's of buying a house in a upscale white neighborhood to make music in the basement. But all the people going in a out the house (dreamville members and friends) made the neighbors think he's selling dope. Also, no matter how successful you are as a minority in America, that stereotype kind of follows you even if it's not true because of how blacks and minorities are portrayed by society.

No song on this album is a break from the story.

Fontano has to stopto review album listening it in 2 days. Actually, it takes time to appreciate, apprehend and understand a body of work, especially when it's artistic. Not only for Cole. I remember he did the same with Prima Donna.
He can be right, but too many times doesnt have the benefit of hindsight.

That's the main problem with those critics.

Yeah. Music critics/reviewers aren't given the opportunity to actually sit with an album, if it doesn't grab them in one or two listens it will get a bad review. Then most of them "half listen" to albums anyway.

I can tell you I appreciate and love the album more and more since the day of release because I've sat with it and listened to it alot all the way through. It's a great album. Initially, I didn't realize how amazing it is.

I get that some songs are favorites and all that, but when I listen to it, I listen all the way through because that's when it's truly amazing as opposed to just listening to Immortal or some other song as a standalone. It's like skipping to your favorite part in a movie in the middle, watching that scene and turning the movie off.
