Rap has this strange ability to merge with and become pop, because it's mostly down to the delivery of the lyrics. I'm not sure it's quite the same as traditional hip hop, but if we were to consider all rap to be hip-hop, then in theory, Rap could envelope all genres. Whether or not it displaces vocal singing among the world audience depends on what different generations grow up listening to.

Hip hop has become to wide of an umbrella term imo like you said anything with rapping is deemed hip hop which I think should b revised rapping is really just a vocal delivery like singing ik it's probably too late to do this but ya

You're asking if hip-hop is at its peak in 2017 when you got MFers like Quavo charting? Okay.

i think you have to look at the late 90s/turn of the century as the peak of its influence over both pop music and broader pop culture.

I think hip hop has been the dominante genre in US since like the beginning of the 00s but maybe I'm wrong. And no hip hop is actually worse than it has ever been before. There are like 1000 rappers and only 10 of them are worth listenin... 90's and 00's were definitely a lot better
