Socialism might be one of the most polysemic terms in political sciences along with liberalism and maybe communism. Asking a bunch of random young people to define a concept in a few seconds before they ever thought about it so obviously dumb

it's complicated, for marx, what we call communism, like a centrally planned economy where the state owns the means of production is socialism, and communism in, on one hand, the ''real movement that abolishes the present state of things'' in a better, more equal direction, and on the other hand a kind of utopian society with no money where everyone does what he likes and can get everything he needs (but that's like a long term goal, and like keynes said, on the long term we're all dead'). At the same time, some european social democrats like bernie sander that just want some sort of fair capitalism where the rich are taxed heavily call themselves socialists, and conservatives call about everyone that doesnt think it's okay to k--- someone who was stealing your lunch communists. Marx's definitions are the more accepted ones in social sciences though.

I'm from a former communist country and have family members who've lived half their lives in communism and the other half in capitalism

communism pros:

- There is more law and order and a sense of safety.
- Unemployment basically non-existent
- Better literacy and education
- A sense of unity
- Religion was banned

Cons:

- There's law and order and a total sense of safety because it was a ruthless dictatorship.
- You didn't earn much. You weren't allowed to make extra money and there was no incentive to succeed in life really you were just working for the most basic necessities.
- They take your land
- Every city was a depressing grey concrete jungle

Capitalism pros:

- You can do what you want.
- You can make more money. The more business-minded people have opportunities now that can never exist with communism.
- No dictatorship
- Some parts of the cities became really modern and nice

Capitalism cons:

-Other parts of the cities look like warzones
- Crime rate tripled
- Corruption quadrupled
- Unemployment quintupled
- Illiteracy rate sextupled



I think in a modern developed country, capitalism is the way to go with some socialist aspects in health care and education

Communists/socialists like to say x y z isn't a good example of a communist/socialist society because there's never been a true communist/socialist society. But that's because it is simply unrealistic to achieve. I mean yeah it doesn't help that you have the U.S and it's lapdogs doing their best to sabotage you, but even without that it is an unrealistic system
