I didn't really know about trap until 2011-12ish but I am from Missouri suburbs and the only rap people listened to besides Eminem was like Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy in high school. I guess a better way to phrase my previous comment is that I'm glad various genres in hip hop are being distinguished as independent from one another.
